Tbh I'm so embarrassed that the club hasn't been able to do better than Jan Mucha as goalkeeper.

Howard, Stekelenburg or Martyn would have given us a better option. Mucha then could have served as a back-up to any of those three.

13/14 season mate.

We had genuine pace and threat all over the park (aside from Barry). McCarthy was an absolute machine, Barkley too. Lukaku Mirallas Pienaar/Deulofeu up top. Baines and Coleman, Jags and Distin/Stones.

That’s the level we need to get back to, with a better manager this time. When you have that type of pace all over the parl You can take the game to opponents like we did in the Goodison derby (which should have been about 8-3 to us against a very good Liverpool team). Barkley running the pitch against Newcastle away, Lukaku bearing down on the Arsenal defence.

That’s what pace and power combined with technique gets you. Teams fear to press you so stand off you and then you control the game. We’ve been the opposite for too long, so slow that teams aren’t worried about pressing high so we can’t keep the ball and we back off them.
