They can probably still sell him for 20-25 next season with 1 year on his deal. Its a 20 million pound 'loan' if they do not sell him this window. Finances, eh?

I like Dibbling, but, the money Southampton are asking is too steep. We could probably sign Mcatee and the likes of Fellows combined, for very little more

I genuinely don’t get the obsession with McAtee.

Isn’t he more of a central midfielder? Not particularly quick but good technical skills?
He looked ok but nothing special whenever I saw him for England U21s (Elliot Anderson was the standout midfielder).

We are crying out for a proper right winger with pace.

I dont think you pay 50m for Dibling either. I think you only get value by signing younger players from other leagues. I'm just saying those are your options in August. You either have to accept and pay the valuation or go and sign other less well known players.

Yes I think game 1 is the true deadline. Our record in August is abysmal because we don't do our business early enough and leave managers with about 14 senior players for pre season.

You don't need all your business done when the league starts but you need to have most of it done. Right wing and right back were definitely priorities that needed to be sorted out early.
And I agree, maybe the club under estimated the window, prices are pretty wild.

But all the players we have shown interest are still active, there are deals to be done, if we save a few million on 1, it allows us to do another, its complex.

You arent wrong Tim, I offer no excuses for their poor performance, but its done now, so we simply must focus on the future, leave the past where it belongs.

United wanting £50m for Garnacho and Madueke going to Arsenal for similar amount shows they are over pricing.

It's up to them though isn't it and we'd want to get as much as we could in their situation. They're gambling having an upset player and risking any potential of a world cup call up for him.

Totally agree. He's skillful but lightweight and slow. Not a winger

The problem with that is, the right wingers with pace we are interested in are either, valued too highly by their clubs, making the transfer fee to high for us, or, do not want to come to Everton and are holding out for a team that can offer them European competition football.

I think most people haven't seen him play but they're assuming he's the next Cole Palmer because he's come through City's academy.

Interesting take from a Southampton fan. Have heard a fair few of them make comments along these lines.

“Highlights are him going past players with ease, followed by a shot a yard the wrong side of the near post, or a cross to nothing, or down the keeper’s throat. “

“He’s got big potential but we’ve seen very little end product, very little work rate off the ball, some would say questionable desire”

It doesn’t mean he couldn’t do the bizz for us like.

I'd have questionable desire if I played for that woeful Southampton team from last season and was watching my team get shellacked by all the teams except that time we beat dyche
