Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

Seems like Southampton don’t have any intention of meeting in the middle, and actually want the asking price, which might and was always going to be a problem.
If they are PSR compliant then it’s within their gift. Fair play to them. He will be ‘integrated’ back into the team in a couple of weeks and will play like nothing has changed.
He’s not the first and won’t be the last

Well that’s also something we should’ve known about before the 1st July. Who came up with a list of pie in the sky transfer targets that are all wanted by CL clubs? And then didn’t bother sounding them or their agents out until well into pre-season?

CEO Kinnear signs off on the cash
Hammond negotiates the deal
Moyes works with scouting on the names

Who is to blame for unrealistic targets?

Haha good one.

You do not start off stupidly low.

Someone put an example of buying a house and us putting an offer in of 105k ish on a 200k house…. Or better yet a house which was worth 400k 6 months ago according to reports.

You gain absolutely nothing from putting in such a ridiculously low offer. Sales is all about win-win.

You annoy one party and they are always going to play hard ball unless they are in a desperate position.

There is only one party in a desperate position in this case and guess what it’s not Everton.

Please do not try teaching me how to sell / negotiate.

Ridiculous offer and we gained absolutely 0 from it.

The person you're replying to has clearly never done a deal in their life.

We made an insulting offer. When it went in, noone thought it would be accepted.

If anything Southampton would have been more determined to rinse us for the offence.

This is totally different - we bid what we bid, they came back, we came back and at some point realised we were not going to agree. Id rather we tried than not. It is still on as well.

HAHA, what are you even on about??

How is that a strong position, he ain’t signing a new deal. He 100% will not be in their team tomorrow. He stays and gets a bad injury, next summer he will be going for 20mil at the most.
They’re was a story 3/4 days ago they they gave him permission to speak to us,
Even though we’re apart on valuation, so surely that doesn’t happen if we’re miles apart. Palace or Leeds never gave us permission on Gnonto or Zaha

You don't know that.
None of us do.
With the way Southampton have dealt with this transfer if we had offered 40m in the first bid their price would have been 60m.

They are trying to get the highest price possible for a young talent who will be leaving shortly one way or the other.

However, if you really think that going to Southampton with a much bigger opening bid was the way to conclude a deal for TD then just maybe you do need someone to talk to you about buying /selling.

Or he stays, doesn’t get an injury has a great season in the championship and gets them back into the premier league.

But much more realistic... so what's the point in 27m.

Also likely to get to a compromise much sooner if we are in and around the figure!
I think the lowball offer serves two purposes:

1- these things are all a PR exercise and when a sum is finally reached Southampton can say “look how much we dragged them up”. This helps reach the final figure

2- I don’t know how common they are but we’ve seen from the MGW saga that “secret” release clauses exist ie you can trigger a contractual clause by accident. It costs you nothing to chuck in a low offer to test it.

I'm very frustrated really. They've done some things well in the window, and I think the Barry deal looks better as each day goes on.

Which sort of underlines to me why the right wingers stuff seems a bit off. It can clearly be done to get a talented younger player for a position. For whatever reason, it hasn't been done.

I'd guess they think Grealish is their alternative "go deep in the window" guy. The issue is, you can't have two of those signings when it's a bit of a glaring hole.

A big part of buying/selling is about identifying assets/targets that can attained within the time frame that can happen. They've fallen down on this.

….unrealistic targets, ha, ha you’ve been banging on how we should bid for Dibling and other high priced players for years

Hi still ain’t signing new deal either way

How things play out in the media.
Isak wants to leave and join Liverpool and is training on his own.
This gets done he will be a Liverpool player soon, how can he stay ans how can Newcastle keep him now.

Dibbling wants to join Everton and is training on his own
The media, miles apart, we don’t think this gets done , Everton waking away
Other clubs sniffing around
Etc etc
I don’t read the Mail or listen to pods and Joyce, but will be interesting his views on isak and his beloved reds

He’s not an alternative we want both
