Why are you ignoring the much larger bid we placed for him a few days later
I am only referring to the stupid bid we made in the first place, again according to reports.

Ridiculous tactic and typically Everton to low ball by so much. We should not be so far off their valuation and like the Grealish talks really had this conversation at the beginning.

I just wish people would wait until Sept 1st before shitting the bed.

It’s football, it’s how transfers work, it’s how business works.

You attempt to sell a product for what you believe you can achieve, or what the market can stand.

As time moves on it’s possible that figure becomes negotiable.

Not a lot of business is getting done, things normally ramp up around a week away from the deadline. No, it’s not ideal, but … it’s never been any different yet we all seem so surprised.

We’ll get the bodies in.

….i suspect that’s very much the case and have posted similar but everybody’s different and folk feel passionately about Everton so reactions are understandable. I remain relatively chilled but I understand why others are not.

Before I retired I would arrange Myers Briggs days when I moved to a new team. It categorises people, helps understand how different individuals are and makes colleagues more tolerant of each other. Recommended for anybody looking for a team build event.

Well I mean, we have been finding replacements… since this is our 5th choice winger at present.

We should’ve known that Southampton’s asking price was £50m before August. It was quoted in the first 5 pages of this thread that that would be his price tag, from someone who doesn’t even work in football. Like this was never something you need a highly paid specialist recruitment team to work out. We wasted everyone’s time bidding half the asking price which now looks ridiculous, amateur and probably wound Southampton up even more.

If we value this player at over £40m then why didn’t we value any of the 4 targets that were higher on the list than him at that? Our “strategy” has been all over the place. They don’t know what they’re doing.

We did. They all wanted better teams.

I think Southampton are a bit pissed that were are the only club in for him, well
That’s what it seems as nobody else has bid for him.
All this talk of 100mil,
I bet their owners thought it would be the auction of all time,
With all the top clubs throwing bids in all over the gaff.

Well that’s also something we should’ve known about before the 1st July. Who came up with a list of pie in the sky transfer targets that are all wanted by CL clubs? And then didn’t bother sounding them or their agents out until well into pre-season?
For someone with as limited a perspective as we all have, you’re very sure of what’s going on.
