NUFC aka The Horse Punchers

Quite sad isn’t it.

I’ve no love for the stripey kopites, but if they can’t convince the talent to stay with CL footy and pif backing then we all mount as well pack in.

It’s just the football food chain isn’t it?

Liverpool taking players from other teams in the league isn’t anything new.

Other than Geordies nobody has ever dreamt of playing for Newcastle, whereas liverpool are one of the most popular teams in the world.

Has always been that way, will always be that way.

People seem to blame PSR for everything these days.

Without PSR Newcastle probably spend £500m every summer and people would be saying something needs to be done about it.

Correct. PSR is the lesser evil.

But it also proves how PSR protects the elite and closes the shop.

United were crying the pauper last year and cut their staff because costs were too high and they'd run out of money by November. They've now spent £200mill (no exits i believe) and have half a billion in attacker's on the books.

Man United have huge revenues as well and were outspending us and taking all our best players long before PSR became a thing.
We were a million miles off then and we’re a million miles off now, irrespective of PSR.

Baz off toffeetv said he was talking to the Newcastle equivalent on the overlap the other day.

Word on their end it the PIF has lost intrest in Newcastle and aren't backing them anymore. Was supposed to put planning permission in for the new ground in January and have pulled the plug on it
I’ve never been convinced they were that interested anyway.
The difference in MO between Man City’s owners and this lot is night and day.

All this talk of ‘world’s richest club’™️ because of links to the Saudi PIF always sounded a bit hollow.
Their spending to date seems to have been very much in line with their income and debt position after Ashley’s management.

Hold on, hold on! Who on Earth at the horse punchers thinks £80m is value for Nicolas Jackson? They're desperate, aren't they? Oh, to be a fly on the wall...

Thats the way the league works now though isnt it.

The PL is designed so you might have a good season and be able to get Europe/CL. But its also designed to make sure that any team outside of the chosen few cant capitalists on being in the the CL.

You need a bigger squad but as soon as you get a bigger squad you have to sell your best players to stay within psr. Then who are the only teams who can afford your players?

The same teams that your competing against for the top spots and the same teams that have hyper inflated the price of players so everyone but them cant progress without falling foul of psr.

Newcastle have just won their first trophy in 70 odd years, got in the CL 2 out of the last 3 season and backed by one of the richest countries in the world. They should be looking to push on to challenge for the league instead there forced to sell their best players.

If thats happening to them then what chance has the rest of us got?

My only hope for English football is when the European super league happens and the top teams that are a cancer on English football sod off!

Talking about Newcastle who are on paper "the richest club in the world" and have a glass ceiling imposed by PSR.

Compared to United who were apparently skirting PSR, crying poor with a stadium falling to bits and taking away lunches for staff one minute, then going on £300mill spending sprees the next.

As mentioned before, they now have 6 attackers on the books who cost them £500million. Yet Newcastle cant keep players cos even a wage structure puts them over it.

Look at Chelsea now. £2billion spent. 3rd tier european trophy and a panto pre season tournament but are back dining at the elite and being put on balon dor lists. Literally brought back into the fold with open arms.

There was a glimmer of hope last season with Palace, Newcastle, Villa, Forest all mixing it up with success showing how football was and could be. But just you watch the big boys close that gap

Let's set it up slightly differently.

newcastle can't sign anyone because they are not that much of a draw, the players on the menu for man utd, city, rs, chelsea and then a fraction below at arsenal and spurs are all on top dollar if they are bought as starters. Look at who has done business. The girl at the prom with the richest daddy isn't always the prettiest.

city did it differently, big bucks from the off, big name managers, marquee signings, maniac sponsor deals, and then threw development money at the etihad complex like it was on fire and cash was water.

It's about profile, get in get established and start calling the tune. newcastle are late!
