Recently bought a phillips one blade, thought I had done alright, picked it up for 30 quid I think.

Replacement blades are about 20 quid each, an utter scandal and the razor itself is complete rubbish.
That's why I went electric - forked a bunch of money for a good Philips clipper-combo-thing that I also use for hair (different comb/accessory thingies). 20-30 quid a pop makes no sense and you switch them often, I've bought that machine years ago and still use it with the most basic maintenance humanly possible.

That said, on topic - mostly between "trimmed beard" and "let it go wild for a while, just remove the neckbeard", depends how lazy I feel. In fact, the whole reason I have a beard is cuz I'm lazy, I think the wife's seen me fully beardless once hah.

Ive recently had surgery on my neck, so shaving is a challenge currently, but yeah, I let mine run wild mostly, couldnt find my head shavers for the last few weeks so im rocking the homeless vibe in a big way at the moment.

Debating whether to go to a Turkish barbers and get my nose hair sorted cos its out of control.

Ive said before in the old thread, but at my age, all my hair is basically wire at this point, insane how it grows as you get older.

I recommend https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/MG7930_15/all-in-one-trimmer-series-7000 for the full trim mate, got that and it's been great for everywhere.

Also if it wasn't for the long hair with shaved sides/back (that my wife does, eff barbers honestly) I'd be rocking the homeless look too haha. My dad used to say I look like a priest pre-long hair, now I look like a homeless viking... so, good, I guess?

Yeah I've got that 1 for my hair and face, but I prefer a closer shave than electric gives.

Usually have a beard which is more the result of not shaving rather than a sculpted beard. Every so often it all comes off with some clippers to take the length off and then a proper wet shave with the old fashioned DE razor, soap, brush and all.

Have got a cupboard full of different soaps from a few different artisan makers over the years and fancy stuff like Saponoficio Varesino. And another box full of stuff like Proraso, Cello, Arko. Weirdly enough the old Palmolive shave sticks that used to clog up the shelves of Superdrug and the likes for less than a quid are worth quite a bit now. There's a very mad shaving collector community out there that instantly pays through the nose for anything discontinued.

And then there's all the different blade manufacturers - Derby, Polsilver, Feather and a thousand others. And there's also a market for vintage DE razors. Some very valuable ones out there.

I've got quite a bit as it's a rabbit hole I fell down when looking for alternatives to expensive cartridges a good few years back. I've now got more than enough blades to last 2 lifetimes of shaving every day and actually made enough money buying selling vintage gear to take the family on holiday back in my eBay days. Too much arsing about now though.

I like to be clean shaven.

And honestly, the best razors I’ve used are the disposable women’s ones my wife and daughter buy in bulk from Superdrug.

I just pinch a few. Miles better than anything I’ve used and I’m not arsed that they’re pink.

I have used those too, they are pretty decent.

I fell into the same trap. Felt like a change from Gillette Fusion Proglides. I just like researching and buying pointless things. Looks a great gadget, simple, waterproof etc. Frankly amazed that no-one on reviews mentioned, and also ashamed that I didn’t notice, that because the blades are just exposed, you will cover your entire bathroom, your forearms, shoulders and feet in beard trimmings. So blindingly obvious the moment you start using it and there’s stubble ricocheting off the walls. I spent a couple of months taking the wife’s makeup mirror into the back garden. Then having to actually finish off with blades anyway.

Massive massive cover up. Crap.

After a bit more searching, I bought a Manscaped Chairman Pro (I have never bought one of their products before, honest, but I liked the spec). A random American YouTuber did a review and had an affiliate code. Typed his name in and got 10% off. Never watched him again.

Turned up and all perfect except for a slight scratch on the back of the unit. Barely noticeable, but for £150 ish I wasn’t having it. Emailed for a return in a strop, they said they’d send a replacement out ASAP. After nothing was mentioned I sheepishly asked “do I need to dispose of the other one in a special way due to the battery. Wink wink.” They said yes, wink wink. They didn’t want it back.

So got a free £150 shaver. Going to use the heads instead of buying spares, will have a spare base unit. No doubt my lad will rob it eventually. Great service and a really good piece of kit. Stubble trimmer, case etc. Lovely.
