Confirmed Signing Jack Grealish

Seen a few things on Grealish, some reports that we have offered to pay half his wages (£150K a week / £7.8m) for the year and City want the full amount.
I have seen before where players wanted moves they temporarily took reductions in their wage to make the move happen, Lingard when he went from Man utd to West Ham, and Danny Drinkwater when he went to Burnley on loan from Chelsea. But I know thats quite rare and normally when the player is very keen on the move.
I remember when we signed James, there was a suggestion that we paid £12m to get him out of his Real Madrid contract and Madrid essentially just gave that money to James and then he signed a new contract with us. I could see something like that happening, Like we pay £20m for Grealish, City give him that money and terminate his contract and he signs a new contract with us, on reduced wages, but with £20m in the bank.

There seem to be a lot of clubs lurking and waiting to see what we finally agree with City and Grealish and could just come in and match it

Under no circumstances should we be paying £300k for wages regardless of any deal. That's absolutely sick. If that's what City want, walk away. Half at most.

As talented as he is, I wouldn't have Grealish if we had to pay all his wages that Coty want us too. We as a club have to make sure we don't spend anything that will screw us over with spending rules and those wages are not workable.

Oh and if he does come then someone needs to sort his freakin' hairstyle out. Make him look human from the neck up for once (and also don't let him drive a car around the city)...

Nothings been done yet. Even the media outlets are suggesting he may have to lower his wages if a deal cant be struck. City dont want him. I get he's contracted and can sit and get the same money there or elsewhere if someone stumps up the difference. But thats not guarenteed yet. My post was more about ambition and hunger still. Not greedy or lazy.
He may have to, it sounded like Man City wanted all the 300k to be covered and weren't willing to reduce the sum.

I suppose he could offer to temporarily reduce his wages and take less money during the loan, but it becomes more contractual complicated then and (happy to be corrected) may still be rejected by Man City.

All footballers wages are obscene, that’s true whether they earn £25,000 pw or £300,000pw.
As to whether we can afford it without limiting our future options , well, that’s a job for the bean counters in our administration. It’s their decision to make and not mine .
They will be judged on the success and failure of their strategy.
All that concerns me is that we recruit players who can progress the side and improve our performances, and that we have as many genuinely exciting and talented players as possible. So I can look forward to going to the game once more .
I would welcome the chance to see a player as talented as Grealish play in an Everton team.
Tired of overanalysing finances when it’s the football I’m paying for .

Nobody knows yet what deal will be struck if he leaves for a club.
The post was about if he wanted to sit on his current contract and the bench at city. Or play regular.
I responded to a post that said option A is money and option B is football. He will get all the money regardless if he goes on loan, which is what the current approach is for.

His choice is football or not football.

This only changes if City want to sell him.

We never got anything out of Deli if Grealish comes and doesn't perform over the season and ends up as he is now on the bench then that's money wasted , i hope he comes and rips up trees first name on the sheet etc but it depends if he's got the fight still in him to push himself

But Dele was a crock when he arrived, had lots of off-field problems, it was always a weird move. Grealish is none of that.

time will only tell if he ever turns up to see if we get value for money not saying i wouldnt welcome him if we can get him playing like he did at Villa and some of his time at city will be great hope its central or at least tried there and not stuck out to the left but lets get him here first

Grealish is always the most fouled player, but no doubt refs would change that down a bit with an Everton shirt on, but he really is awesome at winning/dribbling through defs and winning free kcks and corners. Would be great for us, with KDH and Ganas energy to recover.

Awesome at winning attacking set pieces
- Grealish
- Ndiaye

Good at above *or centre fwd turning a def with their strength/energy
- KDH
- Alcaraz
*Barry, Beto

Awesome at taking set pieces
- KDH

Awesome in the air
- Barry
- Tarks
- Keane

Good in the air
- O’Brien
- Branthwaite
- Beto

If not Grealish across the front, were scrwaming out for a similar and/or fast, tricky right winger.

Then really just need a right back and I honestly reckon we can push for a lower Euro spot immediately.

If we were to sign Grealish, I would not be surprised if we were to drop Garner, play Dewsbury-Hall in a number eight role, move Ndiaye into the number ten role and play Grealish on the left-wing. After all, Grealish would not be coming here to sit on the bench and Ndiaye is currently too good to be dropped from the side.

I’d play Grealish at central attacking mid if we got him - having more play going through him and giving him a free role would be ideal for him to really influence games
