Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

I think the Dibling transfer is hugely improved by the addition of Grealish. If it's just Dibling coming in then it becomes all about him and the fee and he needs to immediately hit the ground running.

If we bring Grealish in alongside him then it all becomes about Grealish. Grealish is used to that pressure and he can take the focus off Dibling while he finds his feet.

The fact that we are still hanging around this possible transfer despite having had bids rejected shows that Soton called our bluff early doors and knew how desperate we were. You have to hand it to them really. I did think it was because they didn’t want to sell but it’s become apparent that they’ve worked out that they can hold out for the max.

Regardless, it’s an absolutely preposterous signing for a 19 year who was in one of the worst sides ever in Premier League history. I can’t imagine Moyes has him anywhere the first 11.

I don't think I've ever disagreed with a comment on this forum more than this.

Going into this summer, I'd assumed Dibling was well out of our reach because he's one of the best young talents in the country. I'd never heard of him until I watched him against United early on last season and I've not stopped banging on about him since.

He might not start the first few games while Moyes susses him out, but he'll waltz into our team within a month or two.

100%

I’m not a professional football scout - but I think we can do better than someone with 2 goals and no assists in a whole season for 50m
Lazy analysis that. Kids 19, made the step up from youth footy to the toughest league in the world and held his own, as well as missing a portion of games through injury. He also happened to be playing in the one of the worst prem teams in modern history. How many young kids that age do you see ripping up the prem with goals & assists (don’t use Rooney as he was a generational talent). You don’t need to be a football scout, you just need to apply logic as your expectations are in fantasy land.

A very good point.

Agree, 50mil is alot of pressure for a 19 year old especially at Everton with levels of expectation and some unhinged fans.

Bit of a difference between 12m and 50m though - and that’s literally not what I said.

If you actually read what I’d wrote - I wasn’t suggesting signing him - I was pointing out the price he went for

Unfortunately £50 million for us, and £50 million for say, Liverpool, gets completely different players.

Does anyone know if this kid is worth it
I’ve seen him a couple of times. He is undoubtedly very talented and confident. Good on the ball but Moyes will want him to improve off of it. He is a very good prospect if he can stay fit and will be a really good addition to the squad. In today’s crazy market £40m is about peak value for him imo.
