But I think the other points are that what a different club pays for a player bears no resemblance to what Everton have to pay. This is irrespective of whether you think the player is better or worse.

I don't see it like that at all Kev. Everton kept on deliberately coming in lower than their evaluation and even had talks with him which all in effect completely unsettled the player and forced Southampton to be more compromising for a deal more suitable to Everton. I would rather pay a premium for an up and coming young lad with potential who you will never lose money on than a 40 year old on extortionate wages who will be gone in a year for nothing. This lad walks straight into right wing considering we haven’t actually got one.
