If he has asked to leave and is being sent for non-contact, protect-the-asset training on the eve of Southampton's season then they clearly fully intend to sell him. The longer they wait, the less time they have to find, buy and integrate their own replacement. It does them no good letting it drag on weeks into their own season.

And we need this done by the beginning of next week at the latest so he can have a full week of training before the opening game.

The time for silly buggers is over. Southampton need to accept less than they are asking, we need to pay more than we have been offering and this needs to get boxed off. I really don't think this is an investment Everton will regret.
