Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

Southampton are just posturing like Scott Steiner.

See if you take our £45mil, plus another 5 million in add ons, then you take Southamptons 25% sell on fee, their chances of selling the player drastically go down.

Manchester City signed Rayan Cherki from Lyon for £35 million and he is a much more proven player, puts into context how absurd Southampton are becoming in their valuation of Dibling.
I'm not bother one bit about this lad any more. If he was that good then other clubs would be in for him, and as far as I can see its only us. It annoys me that Southampton are trying to pull our pants down over this. I'd much rather us go after another target (don't care who) and leave them alone.

He had an agreement that he could leave this summer and only had a year on his contract.

If he was that good we wouldn’t get him, you’re right, but he’s 19. We ain’t getting the best 24 to 27yr olds to join so we end up with 2nd and 3rd rate players in that age bracket and still pay over the odds for these. And look how That’s worked out in the past.

So it’s take a punt on young players with potential or signing a very good 30/31yr old who has a year or 2 left, who will be on massive wages most likely.
Look at Newcastle when they first got money. 25mil Chris wood, 45 Gordon. And even now as a champions league team they’re struggling to attract top players. This summer we were always going to have to pay slightly over the odds for good players and now we’ve left it this late teams know we’re getting to that desperate stage.

Cherkis on 140k a week there so the deals worth a lot more . Can't imagine we'd be paying Dibling more than 40k a week considering he's currently on 5k.

Yes they will, he is on a tiny amount, loves them & they can promise him the move next season.

If he is so untested, raw and as much of a risk as many blues think, then its not too realistic him staying and developing more.
That's extremely naive. They are not going to commit to a massive wage increase without being in the premier league and including relegation clauses. Why would he sign a contract for less wages than he deserves and give up the opportunity for a signing fee/higher wages next year? Especially given how they are behaving now.

Not sure why people are surprised by us wanting a sell on clause. Pretty standard for young talent with a lot of potential isn't it?

I'm surprised we didn't accept the £40m though. 50m is too steep I reckon and means you'll be on the wrong end of the risk/reward ratio.
