We should pull a Big Red, tell Southampton that our final offer for Dibling is the very generous £40m plus add ons, and if they reject then we will move on to our second choice target Tom Fellows.
Would hope we can identify some better than Fellows as second choice ( actually I think Fellows would be about our 4th choice ).
He’s a decent one trick pony, I’m not convinced he has much to offer at PL level.
No other PL club seems to be overly enthusiastic about signing him .

Or....he signs a new deal...stays, gets them back up, and they are fine.

His value will be more next season.
He would be mad to sign a new contract.
No garrentee they will come up that's a tough division.
Even if they did he would only have a year left when they come up.
That would leave him in a better position to ask for more money or he wants a tranfer.
Anyone coming in knows s they have to sell or risk losing him for nothing the year after so aren't going to go overboard on the fee.
Other alternative he plays well they get up he , waits out his contract and gets a free and all the money that would bring him signing on fee ect.
He would still be early 20's and made for life.
If he is confident in his abilities I would stay there play well then leave for nothing unless a move came along that suited him personally.

Agree. If I was advising him then should Southampton not give him a realistic valuation then he should get his head down for 2 years, suggest he back himself and play his best football then leave for free at 21 years old unless Southampton are able to match his ambitions at that point. He would likely receive a signing bonus and huge salary increase as there would be no transfer fee involved. I would also advise Southampton that the above could happen so perhaps it would be prudent and commercially savvy to consider/accept a good offer this summer to avoid him leaving for free in two years.

Southampton won't be able to afford the sort of deal he will want.

Yes they will, he is on a tiny amount, loves them & they can promise him the move next season.

If he is so untested, raw and as much of a risk as many blues think, then its not too realistic him staying and developing more.
