Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

£40mill for Dibbling for me means he has to deliver. None of this "waiting 2 years" grace period.

Thats not fair on the lad but as already mentioned, there's cheaper options that would be safer bets to increase an already lackluster attack.
Cheaper options definitely exist , but identifying them and ensuring they are of the required quality and meet the requirements of the coach is the challenge.
The fact our new structure is missing the presence of key operators probably makes it more difficult for us and perhaps means our wanted list isn’t as extensive as we would like .
We have worked down our list already with little reward to date.
The worst thing would be to recruit the low quality players who would not advance us but would limit our options for another 2or 3 years.

Thing for me is look at someone like Dwight McNeil. If you look at his out put, bar 2 seasons, he's averaged 5+ assists a season in the premier league since he was 18. We paid £20mill for him at 22/23 years old.

This kid...£40+mill for low socks and a few stepovers in one of the worst teams ever to grace the league (points wise).

I like him...but not at the price.

I think Grealish , Dibling and possibly one of the uninspiring RBs we are linked are the last names on our current list .
After that we go with what we’ve got until January.
I hope we get this lad , despite the price/ risk .

Reminds me of this

Brentford agreed a fee of £40mil ( for a then very raw unproven 18 yr old ) only for it to collapse over the structure of the deal.

I honestly thought from the start Southampton would want a fair bit more for Dibling.
If we walk away now it leaves Southampton in the same predicament with a club like Spurs lowballing for him.

This price atm is ridiculous, but it can also be the "going rate" as much as we don't like it , it is what it is.
Big drawback is the sell on clause ( which i take as profit not as the whole sale ). The way to safeguard that would be to insert a hefty buy out clause and get the deal done .
