Stats can prove anything

Sometimes people forget to watch football

Any bum on the internet can Google goals and assists and claim that player x isn't as good as player y

Does my nut in

People use trophies won nowadays as an indicator of whether a player is world class or not. If that was the case Scott Carson would be in a premier league all time XI
Agreed and he was also part of a dreadful Southampton side that barely scored a goal last season so it's no wonder his stats weren't the best last season

I suppose they might look at selling Gareth Bale to Spurs for 5m plus 5m add ons and then seeing him go to Madrid for 100 odd million.
Ive no real issue with them having their price. By the same token Everton will have theirs. There is always that stage to just say no thanks we'll move on.
I mean that's the game isn't it.

He wasn't worth the 100 million when he was sold by Southampton so they were only entitled to what he was worth at the time or they sell for less and take the big percentage.

You can't tell us to pay over the odds of what he's worth today on the basis of potential and then come back and demand a cut of the sale price when we move on after we develop him some more.

I don’t think the sell on fee is as big an issue as we are making it on here .
It’s only25% on any profit we make on the sale.
I don’t think that should prevent a sale .
We would still make a profit .
The point I'm making is why should they get to double dip?

You either charge us a fair price now and get a cut of the sale when we have developed him further or you get your big fee now and that's the end of it.

Any sell on fee makes it far less profitable for us and we are already being charged an exorbitant fee on the basis of potential.

Soton will have financial issues next season without selling. The ball is in our court. Dibby has missed training and written ‘ Cnts’ on his locker…

That's the difference between now and 20 years ago. Now, the market dictates that the buying club takes on the risk of potential in the form of higher fees.
