They’ve botched it for themselves now. Nobody will pay the 50mil plus and it would be embarrassing to let him go for less now. So the likely scenario is that he stays for another year and ends up going for 30-40 mil next summer with only 1 year left on his contract. This season will likely impact his value at all

Or worse still for them he stays at Southampton the following season and then leaves on a free.
