Greenalls ! That's a blast from the past.Played for the local church under 18 team in the old Prescot & Huyton, Liverpool league - we were all 16 & 17 years old after a heavy training stint pre season someone suggested going to Cases pub - the Quarry inn in the bar { now knocked down it was 14p a pint about ten of us walked to the pub & walked in the bar - It was so tiny the bar -
The Landlord Owen was made up pulling pint after pint - Where have you lot come from - one of the players oh we have been training as we play in the under 18 team .... He smiled & carried pulling the pints the was such a glare at the lad who shouted that out - come again any time you want lads he smiled Greenall's bitter from the pump - it went down well - if you went in the lounge it was 1p a pint dearer = 15p - almost 6 pints for a quid ....
The Greenhalls lager was pure crap though .....
It was not as good as Tetley bitter ... Best ale is in Yorkshire Theakston's bitter they all drink mixed there 1/2 a mild & 1/2 a bitter in a pint glass it was like a nice stout almost like Guinness Black Beamish is good too... I don't drink at all now as I am a diabetic ....Greenalls ! That's a blast from the past.
That's the spirit......Beer is rank
