Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

Yeah
I am always dubious about the accuracy of such reports , I doubt journalists are privy to all the information, they are told only that which benefits the informant .
I do suspect in this case that Southampton are keen to ensure they are seen as negotiating a good price for a local talent .
I think you are correct that a deal will be done , probably undisclosed fee, which in reality will have numerous add ons and sub clauses which will make the final price hard to decipher, and allow both clubs to publicly claim satisfaction.
I think that's par for the course now. Very few signing fees are 'officially' announced.

Not the same, but reminds me when a few posters on here were raving about Olise when he was at Reading...or Adam Wharton at Blackburn.

You need to be gambling before their stock rises and take the Gamble before these clubs start demanding silly money.

I'm not opposed to a 35 mill deal, but I'd be happier to see a couple of lads come in at smaller fees who have talent like the above. Ones we can develop and turn into stars.

The Nick Hammond appointment was especially baffling for me, given that he had a poor track record at Leeds and West Brom. There was nothing to suggest that he would be a worthwhile addition to our management set-up.

He certainly looks like a man who’s never planned so much as a kid’s birthday party in his life. The way we are flailing around in August throwing wild nonsense bids around is pretty embarrassing and a terrible look for the recruitment team.

August 5th is not the time to get embroiled in a saga. Move on to our next target, if they even have one that is of course.

The club really don't want to put themselves in a position of starting to overpay for players again. You can blame the club for taking so long to do deals that it's put us in a bad position, but if players don't want to move to us there's not much you can do about that.

Dibling would be a good buy, but not at the figures being thrown around, it's not like they've had any other official offers on him - we're now bidding against ourselves for no reason. Southampton have every right to value their player as high as possible, but they risk losing the only offer they've had and seeing him go into a Championship season with 2 years left on his contract with no sign of him agreeing another, they'll get far less when they're desperate to sell next year.

I don’t like this attitude to be honest. We’d be fuming if Branthwaite did this to us, plus Dibling is a local lad I believe.
True but it is the only way to get this deal done.

We’re not paying £50m plus 25% sell-on. We better move on to the 6th or 7th choice.

We absolutely should stick to our guns on the valuation here.

All the talk of the of United no longer accepting the ‘United Tax’ and then went and massively overpaid for Cunha and Mbeumo who nobody else was seriously interested in.

The only way to get rid of the desperate tag is to stick by new principles. And it’s it won’t happen in the short term, so there’s no point in making the same mistakes as the old regime so early.

If we overpay here, all we do is show to everyone else that we’ll do the same again. Would have swiftly moved on without hesitation after the second rejected bid.
I mean at the end of the day it's a negotiation. Neither clubs problem that they both want the best deal for themselves. A club making a counter offer is a sign that they are ready to sell. No way we will accept the 25% sell on but I would think there is still legs and a deal to be done on this one.

If the counteroffer is true then it would seem that Southampton are not serious about selling him as the 25% sell on fee is ridiculous. I think he's a very promising player but it's time to walk away and focus on other targets with teams who will negotiate in a realistic fashion. Around £40 million plus £5 million add ons and say a 10% sell on fee is the absolute maximum that he's worth at this point in time.

It seems odd given he will be in the last year of his contract next year and his value will surely not be increasing after a season in the Championship. Teams will be happy to sit and wait pick him up on a free in 2026.
They are playing a risky game if we walk away and nobody else comes in.
The player will see a chance of a tranfer to the Premier league gone.
Only have a year left if they come back up, he will still young and if he had any sense at all would see his contract out.
If they sell him with a season left the arse drops out of the fee.
That's if he wants to go and not cash in.
The risk isnt all on Evertons side.
Honestly if that 25% is correct they have overplayed there hand .

You don't need to listen to Moyes or Kinnear to say "Christ, Everton's squad is thin isn't it?"
There is a difference between realising we probably need to sign players and having heard our manager publicly say that we're desperate though isn't there? Like if somebody comes to view your house you know they're looking to buy one, otherwise why the hell would they be coming to view it in the first place, but if they start telling you how desperate they are to move and what a nightmare they've had trying to find somewhere suitable then you're not accepting their first offer when it comes in are you? The same applies here.

Next time you go and buy a house, if you plan on price negotation - maybe don't tell the seller you're desperate and will be homeless.

It's not a big thing, but it's not helpful.

The recruitment team, which includes Moyes, needs to be unified. Or they need to change/go.

We can have a crisis of confidence as fans, but the last 2 seasons we've finished closer to Europe than relegation. We've spent £40m+ this summer, lost no key player and we're lashing near club record bids in for 19 year olds.

The desperate party here should be the relegated side, with a players contract ticking on.

We've been in desperate situations the last few years, now is a delight by comparison.

We'll bring in the bodies we need, they probably just wont be the quality we hoped for because our appeal is what it is, right now.

The difference between Dibling and the likes of Wharton and Olise is that Southampton are demanding a fee which seems excessive on the face of it, whilst Crystal Palace signed those two players for a combined £30m. Olise was sold to Bayern Munich for around £50m, which is what Southampton now want for Dibling.

Our problem with agreeing to the Dibling transfer is that Southampton are charging the higher end fee now, rather than when the player has proven themselves. We need to find sensible deals which are attainable, similar to those which Crystal Palace agreed to when signing Wharton and Olise. At present, the Dibling transfer is too risky for me, with Southampton clearly reluctant to sell.

It doesn't make sense for Moyes to be fuming about the lack of signings if he's responsible for saying no to saying players.

He's not going to be doing contracts or negotiating fees. That's up to the recruitment team and CEO etc.

They can say everything is on track but very few would agree, including Moyes himself. It was a comment that wasn't necessary.

You are joking arent you?

Moyes is passing the blame on. Who is the first to pass the blame?

Whats the goal of going public and show desparation?

Weve done a stupid fee on KDH and now are into high territory with Dibling.

Perhaps if Moyes wasnt so unprofessional the negotiator wouldnt have his back to the wall?
