It depends on what we think he can become mate.

If we sell for 100 mill in 5 years time, we won’t worry about 50 mill, if we don’t we won’t invest - looks like we are going hard for him, more so than others.
The problem is, our track record in these types of deals is patchy at best. Most of the players we’ve signed for £25m or more have been huge wastes of money and end up leaving for nothing or sold at a huge loss. We aren’t Chelsea- we can’t afford to buy 4 or 5 players per window at £40m plus and just take the hit that most of them won’t work out. If we’re pushing towards £45/50m for a 19 year old who may or may not become a superstar that’s a hell of a risk when we don’t have the financial fair play wriggle room the sky 6 have.

But have they?

United fans said the same about us last summer and how we should sell before we got relegated and they would get him for cheaper.
I've seen journalists who are well reputed change the price that Southampton want from 40m to now 50m.

Our price remained consistent from the off.

Southampton are already relegated.

Would people feel better if we say we spent 65 mill on Ndiaye and Dibling combined?

Big clubs spend big money. This was the whole point of moving to a new stadium and getting new owners. We’ve had 27 out the last 30 years selling to buy, going with what we’ve got, knife to a gun fight. It’s about time we started making a couple of statements.
You make statements with proven players and high ceilings, not rookies who look a bit good and may or may not turn out to be anything

How long would it be until he is "ready"?

People would soon forget his age and inexperience.

For the type of fee mooted, he'd have to be in the team very, very soon and impacting games.

His value won't be increasing on the bench. Massive pressure on a lad at a club that is pining for a hero.

Our better signings have been rookies. Branthwaite, Calvert Lewin, Stones, Richarlison, and then of course our own academy products of Rooney Barkley Rodwell Gordon.

It’s when we’ve paid for ‘proven’ talent that we’ve normally fallen foul. Schneidelrin, Klaasen, Siggurdson, Rooney second time, Tosun, Walcott etc.

They will sell at the price they set.
I don’t think they want to sell at all at this point unless a club pays far in excess of his current worth .
I would like him , but he is still mostly potential and definitely overpriced.
Depends what we want to do with our budget and whether his price limits other signings we may wish to make I suppose.
I wouldn’t be overly disappointed if we walked away at this point .

Nah walk away. If other teams were in for him, I doubt he’d be keen to join us as seems to be the case.

Let them lower their asking price.
All well and good, but this would be at least the 4th right winger we've pursued and missed out on. I'm not sure we are at the point we can afford to walk away now.

Thelwell made some value signings and negotiated for Alcaraz.

Could have had Wesley at RB but Moyes appears to have rejected it.

Now look at us :(

I've seen reports saying we believe a bid of 40 million will be enough to sign him. What reports have you seen that the price they want has changed?

Once again, is it a rule that relegated clubs have to sell?
