Other options - I.e. the likes of McAtee, Doak, Kubo, Fofana and even Fellows as a back-up - remain available and we should look to pursue those options.

Southampton can charge as high a fee as they wish, it's up to us whether we want to pay it. I think it is too high for a relatively inexperienced 19-year-old, especially when we could get McAtee or Kubo for similar fees.
someone already mentioned how tough it'll be to get kubo considering 50% of the revenue goes back to barca

Sounds like they have made approaches/enquiries about all those apart from maybe Fellows , so must be reasons they haven't pursued them and are pushing for this deal instead.
We could always return to the table for any of those players which I have listed, in the hope of striking a deal. Fofana and McAtee both appear to be players who could be on the move this summer, with neither securing new clubs up to this point. Whilst we have not made an approach for Fellows, he could also serve as a suitable alternative at a snippet of the price which Southampton are reportedly demanding for Dibling.

It depends on what we think he can become mate.

If we sell for 100 mill in 5 years time, we won’t worry about 50 mill, if we don’t we won’t invest - looks like we are going hard for him, more so than others.

Would people feel better if we say we spent 65 mill on Ndiaye and Dibling combined?

Big clubs spend big money. This was the whole point of moving to a new stadium and getting new owners. We’ve had 27 out the last 30 years selling to buy, going with what we’ve got, knife to a gun fight. It’s about time we started making a couple of statements.

- We weren't relegated.
- We made it clear from the very beginning our position and price.
- We didn't need or want to sell.
- Branthwaite had more than just one season in senior football.
- Branthwaite was a key player in one of the best defences in the league.

Does being relegated mean they have to sell now?

By the looks of it Southampton have set a price and we haven't met it. Same as what we did last summer.

We rated Branthwaite and didn't want to sell on the cheap. Southampton have every right to do the same.

Soton will sell. They will otherwise have a disgruntled star playing in the championship who is reading lots of hype about how great he is. They will come to an agreement…

Sounds like a Gylfi situation and we all know how that ended up.

I didn’t like Gylfi at all because I thought he ran like he was in treacle and had a fat first touch. That midfield of him Gueye and Schneiderlin was a literal toilet seat.

That being said he was in the team under multiple different managers and had decent goal and assist contributions at a time when a lot of other players couldn’t perform at all.

He's clearly a good player and would be very entertaining to watch, but we need pace and goals, and I'm not sure he provides enough of either.

They've changed the goals posts multiple times.

Yeah it’s almost like you should start planning for these things and putting the feelers out before the window opens, and not get to August and then realise none of your targets want to join isn’t it! What a novel concept for these absolute fraudsters.
Are you actually being serious?! So we should have been tapping up our targets all along? Are you not aware of the legal challenge that Forest have just threatened to Spurs over MG-W?

Possibly the most ignorant post on this thread to date.

Kubo is a better dribbler. At least less of a headless chicken when it comes to dribbling and maturity in his play.

I don’t think any top club is willing to take a 50m gamble on a 19years old. That’s almost unheard of in the past decade. Correct me if i’m wrong.

Look at these wonder kids and convinced me Dibling is worth 50m

The lure of elite clubs seems to provide them the opportunity to sign top talent for competitive prices. It seems like City and Bayern Munich often fair the same as RM in that regard. We aren’t in that bracket.

Everyone ‘taps up’ targets. Do you think Isak stopped training without hearing anything from Liverpool?
