Sandhills station

What’s the strategy with this new foot bridge, surely it just facilitates more people onto the already congested island platform doesn’t it?
Or is it some sort of one way system to enable egress (albeit anyone getting off there at full time on a match day should have their head tested)
From the little bit I've been told, its aim is to primarily improve the flow of passengers on and off the platform (the rate per hour).

This itself is a limiting factor because both platforms use one underpass, so at peak use the station underpass couldn't fill the trains coming through.

The bridge has been built at the far end of the platform, away from the covering, so there'll need to be a strategy to measure flow at both points.

Maybe passengers from one direction will be directed to use the bridge etc.

Folks were getting fired up at the lack of investment in the transport links, so after the first test event the powers the be decided to stick a bridge and walkway down there to shut people up.

I was wondering this. I reckon they will make the station exit only pre match and entrance only after, it happen at other stations near stadiums.

Then the bridge and underpass will serve the two different directions so the queues can be completely separate.

Still won't stop people trying to jump the wrong queue to get an earlier train though unless they run a fence down the middle (but limited space) or build an additional platform (probably mega money)

This would be prudent, but the biggest caveat for that is that it's a major station on the network, so I'm not sure non-match goers would be happy with this.
