Why do people keep saying this, it’s such a rubbish way of putting players down!?

Pickford, Gana and Tarkowski are three of our best players and they all got relegated the season before we bought them

We nearly went down a couple of times, does that mean Branthwaite is awful?
Could be argued that having a squad packed with players with a relegation under their belts has been one of the reasons for us circling the drain. Glad we have shifted a few on myself

I think it’s fair to point out that it’s a lot of money for a player who isn’t really a guaranteed success on paper. He is a good player and it can be a good signing, but I don’t think it’s an issue to say it’s not exactly a no brainer.

It's kind of funny. I think the fee is the questionable part.

As a player, I think he's about as close to a no brainer as I can imagine, as he's English, experienced and a Moyes type player. For me he's an upgrade on what McNeil offers.

But he has had a year off, and we are paying close to what they did.

He's played virtually every game in Europe, and been on the bench for the full PL season. That's not by any stretch 'a year off'.

I don't know how Chelsea manage it. This is why they comfortably stockpile players because their players don't seem to lose value whether they play or not

No brainer for me, but for different reasons. I see him as an upgrade on Doucoure. Like Doucoure, a key part of his role will be to turn defence into attack, but unlike Doucoure he's got the awareness, the passing skills etc to really cut defences open. This is a signing that could really help turn us around as an attacking force.

Is KDH world class ? No.
Was KDH first choice over Luis,Mcatee? No

However the fact he has jumped at the chance to sign for us says a lot about his character, that’s good enough for me, will wear the badge with pride, he’s a solid player who’ll be a welcome addition, Welcome KDH 🔵

Now go get Dibling and stop crying arsing over the extra 5M😵‍💫

I think it’s fair to question a 27 year old (thanks to everyone who checked me on that earlier) who hasn’t played in the PL for two seasons essentially is worth spending close to 30m on. Add on that he wasn’t all that as a PL player and well… what exactly are we doing with this one?

If we needed a half #10 half #8 with no future upside and meh current ability couldn’t we just get Ross off Villa for like 5m quid and called it a day?
Depends really

If you're suggesting that the lack of premier league starts is an indictment of his quality, well for one of those seasons he couldn't start in the Prem because he was playing in the Championship, and for the other season he was playing second fiddle to Cole Palmer. So I'm not sure there's much to go on there

If you're suggesting that the fee is too high for a player who hasn't played in the premier league for two years... then go and find me someone who has, who is good enough to improve our team, wants to come, and for the same price. if you can, I'll make you right on that one.

Sadly the market is the market, 25m is good value for a top level Championship player (which he was at age 24/25?) and who now has a year's experience of playing in Europe

I have a vague recollection of him running the game when we drew with them 1-1 at home a few years ago. Was it when Lampard was here?

Seems to be able to pick a pass and, in what would be a revelation in an Everton shirt in recent times, seems to be able to pass it forwards without hoofing it in the air at the same time.

Yep I mentioned this yesterday, he.really was superb that game and literally popped up everywhere.
