What you mean we did an opening bid and raise the bid towards the asking price incrementally.

So literally like every single transfer ever

Yes and our opening bid was half of the asking price.

We don’t know what we are doing and fair play if you think we do.

He is a good player and he has the potential to kick on and be even better but unfortunately Everton cannot afford to spend an absorbent amount of money on one player. We have so many holes in our squad that we need to plug. Much as I would love to see him playing for us and others of his ilk but unfortunately the blatantly unfair nature of Premier League finances make him slightly beyond our means.

What makes it a panic buy is the fact it’s the final month of the window, we’re desperate for multiple signings, and we appear to be lashing in wild bids that are nowhere near the valuation of our targets. With every week that goes by Southampton can probably top up the asking price by £5m, eventually we’ll have to suck it up and pay whatever they want or we look even more amateur. This is exactly what happened with Sigurdsson, forget the age of the player, the mechanics of the deals are the same.
You're starting to give the impression of a moaning Minnie.

Don’t think we can justify £40m+ on one young player.

Maybe we hold firm and see if Southampton yield?

Doesn’t appear to be any other bidders.

What happens then, we spend £50m on him, does anyone truly believe in 2 or 3 seasons time we'll be selling him for £70m, £80m, £90m?

If that was his true potential another team would have already picked up well ahead of us.

We as a club and Moyes as a manager have properly showed our hand in the past two weeks. Leaves us with little to no wiggle room.
