A free agent who’s been free for about a month, because we’ve completely botched the window and are about to head into the first game of the season 6 players short. But it is what it is, we must once again be reactive and deal with the problems we’ve created for ourselves.

If we were battling Chelsea, inter, and Barca we’d lose 100% of the time and never sign anyone. We need both capable bodies and game changers. He fits the former, is free and is not Doucoure.

Doucoure is 10x the player, even now, and I'm hardly a Doucoure fan.

Brownhill is an average Championship midfielder on the downside of his career, whose goal scoring last season belied both his prior performance and the metrics (which is all I have to go by, as I've only watched him while he was in the Prem). He isn't better than Garner, and we want better than Garner.

For reasonable wages, why not. We can do much worse than him as a squad option. Iroegbunam is not a PL quality player currently, clearly needs a loan. Gana, Garner, Brownhill, Armstrong, Alcaraz a a starting quality CM and we are solid.

He's a free and this will be his last big contract, he won't be on reasonable wages (and good for him too). MLS rumored to have offered him 100k/week.

Yeah, under these terms we should not be signing him unless there are no money available to buy a younger starting quality CM.
