Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

Tbf though, the first thing people will do is look at goals/assist stats. And, I know Dibling was playing for one of the worst PL sides ever, but one of them has proved they can contribute goals & assists and the other one hasn't.

Dibling clearly has a lot of potential, but is he ready to be a marquee signing in a position of urgent need for a club and fanbase like ours? I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not convinced.

Any player we sign will have that type of risk and negativity assigned to him, cos we can't have nice things.

Our best attacked was utter bubbles in France and was bombed out...our best midfielder is 36.
One of our best signing of the last 15/20 years was an old, past it Gareth Barry.

Beto scored load in Italy......yet ppl still moaned about him.

Barry scored load in Spain, yet some are not happy with us siging him.

Not sure what some fans want. Take risks and moan, dont take risks and moan.

This is what everyone is crying for us to do, follow Brightons model....and they pay quite a bit for young players.

I'm no scout or that, but I do take in a good deal of PL footy over the season. This guy stands out. Haven't looked at his stats, but he makes an impact on a game. He's the kind of player you hope will get on the ball so you can see what he does next. He makes things happen. It's been said before but you see a young Bale or Grealish there - he has that skillset - and he's already started to realise his potential.

Saying that I thought he was maybe 22. On the face if it, £30m+ for a 19 year old seems toppy, but with almost a whole PL season in him, that's quite rare.

I'd love him in, as part of our re-build. Can you imagine a teenage midfield of Dibling, Armstrong and Fofana, with a 21yr old McAtee?! Babes!! Would need an enforcer in there too (Luiz?).

Totally agree, problem is you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

Everyone has an opinion on who we should sign, profile of player, age, price etc. the transfer threads are almost difficult to read because so many people moaning that any given player isn’t what we need etc!

I see he joined Chelsea in 2022, but got homesick and went back to Southampton.
He was unable to play and train with his new team-mates as Chelsea abided by the Premier League's five-step review process, an investigation used during transfers for academy players before they can be registered to ensure everything is above board with the move.

While his new team-mates went to win a pre-season tournament in Germany in the summer of 2022, strengthening their bond, Dibling was training alone with a coach.

That isolation was a large reason for him struggling to settle and the clubs were still in negotiations over a fee when Dibling made his desire to return to Southampton clear after just six weeks.

Homesick, he was desperate to go back to Saints.

He confided in academy coach Jeremy Newton about how he was feeling following a game against Southampton Under-18s.

While Chelsea wanted to keep a player they believed would become exceptional, they had a duty of care to a teenager and reluctantly let him go, having not even paid a fee.

A snippt from this article which makes sense as to why. I'd probably feel like him too at that point in my life, but it is something to be aware of and cater to if we sign him. Make sure he has the support around him that he needs.

Dig a little deeper into Dibling's stats, and his ball-carrying distance per game (207.3m), his total dribbles attempted (83), and his total dribbles completed (40) put him in the top 20 Premier League players.

Another high in that rating, we definitely want that profile.

that’s just football now isn’t it ever since the best players in the world were Messi, Ronaldo, Bale etc playing on the wrong wing to what foot they prefer

Besides, Beto is crap at getting on crosses compared to running in on a good through ball so an old fashioned winger would be wasted here
Beto might not be here next season for all we know, and didn't we sign a new CF anyway? :coffee:

Young lad, big fee - coming into a desperate team (Moyes words!), if they get him, feels like he'd need more support than most signings.
