Match Thread Everton v West Ham. Wed 30th July. 23.30

Just saw the result and highlights. Looks like we got battered. Team looks an absolute shadow of the team who finished the season well last year and looks like we may have signed a downgrade reserve keeper although hopefully just a one off. I dont read too much into pre season but we look absolutely miles off it
christ,
It wasn't ideal but we hardly got battered.
West ham were crap too.

I think the thing that stuck out for me was that a few of the players looked like they had no idea what their instructions were.
Almost to the point that Moyes, who usually drills players really well in that department, mudy have kinda went 'f it, the squad, especially the defense, is a mess, just go out, play in that area and do your best, we'll sort it out when we get home'!

Seems to be getting used purely as a fitness exercise. Weird lineups with everyone getting managed minutes.

I think that for me is the biggest disappointment, even in preseason we seemed to have REGRESSED from how we finished last season...how does that happen? Was Dacoure the glue to this side??? Some observations: despite his size, JOB is a better rb than cb at the moment, Patterson looks done...Tim doesnt really add anything, Armstrong might be good....we need to play counter attacking football to create chances with Beto running behind, not coming short for the ball with back to goal...
Time for Davy to get a good sleep, wake up with a smile and a wee bit of enthusiasm and show us hes the man to take us forward.
As for the signings, sorry we are shopping in the wrong stores...target one marquee signing if you want but otherwise bring in 4 or 5 young hungry players from the Championship and overseas and maybe a seasoned PL type, ...freshen things up.

I guess if I worked for a company and they kept saying we need some decent staff all the staff we have are crap I would feel pretty anoyed. Guess it goes one of 2 ways it can motivate you to do better or you down tools and think i dont care, it's basically the owners sh!t show and I have a nice solid well paid unsackable contract. Basically option 2 is what's happening at present at Everton.
Round and round in circles we go.
I cant disagree...I just dont see this version of Moyes being very relatable or inspiring to be fair...

I said on this forum before leaving for the USA that we would end up with the wooden spoon, I based this on when I saw the party boarding the plane and our previous pre season games. I would love to know who is responsible for signing new players, Moyes is defiantly blaming our new owners and players not wanting to come here. I think its a case of waiting to long to bring in new players and partly dithering Moyes at it again. To think I stayed up for the whole game. I am making am appointment with my shrink today.

Thought he made a few decent saves but unfortunately blew his lines with one almighty rick. I wouldn't make a final assessment on one pre-season mistake.
