This post could have been written word for word for each season since Koeman took over. As predictable as the sun rising every morning Everton are abysmal pre season.
I awoke to the result and piggy backed the post to make my point and not particularly aimed at the kid although it seems he didn't have the best of games. Frustration isn't the word though it's altogether tiresome with the same old same old. It's not Travers fault though we are gash every year. Moyes could have played Pickford knowing when your first pair of centre backs are out it's probably not the time to try and bed in a new keeper.
I am frustrated as the next person, mainly as I do assign weight to these games to build confidence, to break the cycle to show we are not a running joke. Once again we give limited chances to our players to create/get a goal that means they perhaps won't force something when the competitive games start, that usually ends in a miss.
All that said we've had a player a few days (& Barry might come into the same category soon if he doesn't net) where the knives if not already out, are being at least being sharpened. How many errors did Pickford make over the years before he came truly good? We just have to try and hope that Travers can't ever do something as bad as that again and back the players.
If we get to the point we are on edge, you can hear the disapproval come through the stands during a game, player's confidence sinks more and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
Ah, you were whinging about that goalie in particular. Right, not the way it came across in your postsFantastic analysis
Yes there was only one goalkeeper in the entire world to spend money on.
Can't get anything past you
Comedy punch followed by comedy ricochet onto head and setup for goal. Couldn't do it again if he tried. Not the most confident of starts.
I wouldn’t judge him on one game——as you say Pickford made plenty of howlers and was still making them last season on top of the good saves he made. It's not Travers fault though we are gash every year. Moyes could have played Pickford knowing when your first pair of centre backs are out it's probably not the time to try and bed in a new keeper.

He made some other good saves though apart from that clanger - their keeper had one clanger for our goal too - but had nothing else to do .....Comedy punch followed by comedy ricochet onto head and setup for goal. Couldn't do it again if he tried. Not the most confident of starts.
