Well that's on moyes this one...supposedly we had another cb ready to go but moyes pull the plug and wanted us to keep keane for another season.

Would have been due to the volume of players we need to sign, I’m guessing. Plus, Keane had a couple of ok games towards the end of the season which even had people on here calling for him to be offered a new deal.

I’ve watched him long enough to know that when he’s on the pitch the whole team and stadium are in panic mode anytime he plays. I’d have rather us promote a youth player to play than have him in the squad. He never gets injured either so theres a good chance he’ll play a lot.

He plays to deep, which has a big knock on effect. If we press high which, leaves massive gaps between defence and midfield. Which then drags the midfield back. So you then end up camped in. With a team not really good enough to pass and hold the ball, leads to the punt up field to a isolated forward.

Am I ok as him at 4th choice center back? Not really.

I think he looks nervous all the time. Whether in preseason or v the koppites. Championship would suit him better. He isn't the worst of all time but a woeful defender who hit the jackpot getting a place on our squad over the years only because our squad is and was poor.

Since when has end of season form, when your contract is running out and everyone is on the beach, counted for anything?

And since when has a fourth choice centre back not played a substantial amount of games over the course of a season? Especially at Everton when we have a threadbare squad and our third choice centre back is our first choice right back?

Should have been hoofed with dcl and doucure, absolute fraud of a cb, who has stolen a living out of Everton.

Of the three, it's absolutely mental that we chose to keep Keane

I know he was the only one to accept the lower wage offer, but still. Surely we could have mustered an extra 30k per week to keep Doucs - worth it if it means we could have booted keggers into touch

And who is the cheaper to replace? Centre mid or centre back.

Probably make that 30k back in transfer fees
