Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

Can only see this happening for us if done right at the end of the window. We will need City to be desperate to offload him and contribute to his wages. They have plenty of time yet to see if someone comes out of the woodwork taking his full salary off their hands.

Thing about Deli was everyone knew he’d lost it. Grealish hasn’t showed that at all. All these he’s lost the desire posts have nothing to back it up. It’s mainly nonsense
He can't / won't beat a man any more.

The Villa version dribbled past players for fun.

If Pep has told him not to risk losing the ball and retain possession at all costs he ( Grealish) might find it very difficult to get it back again.

Is an excellent footballer. Just don’t think his output is good enough considering he has been playing for a generally free scoring attacking team.

But would definitely be the best ‘on the ball’ footballer we have.

Still can’t see it happening though.

At the end of the day you have to trust the self made billionaires they know what they’re doing. And if they don’t then so be it. Imagine a scene were they’re sitting in the boardroom chatting their high powered ways. Oh hang on says one. Dave the bus driver is worried this not a good use of our money. Are we sure we’ve thought this through 😂

As a general matter, becoming a "self-made billionaire" has as much to do with luck as it does anything else. Assuming that the Friedkins, by virtue of the size of their portfolios alone, are smarter than the average bus driver when it comes to building a football team is some classist bullshit.

But, more importantly in this case, there's absolutely nothing "self-made" about Dan Friedkin -- it was his grandfather who started the airline that would turn into the seed of the family's wealth, and his father who made the investment into Toyota that grew the fortune exponentially.

Agree. I do want him and I don't want him, for exactly these reasons. I think he would improve us, but equally I worry about the huge cost on one player, even if only a straight loan, and the ripple effect it has on other players wanting astronomical wages.

Seeing how we wouldn't pay Doucoure, DCL etc... what they wanted, I think the new owners and execs will keep tight control on wages, which ultimately is why I think this wont happen, as City will want to get as much of his cost off their own wage bill as possible.

Are you putting Doucoure and Grealish in the same bracket? FFS; I've read it all now.

I also think people have concerns this version of 29 year old Grealish may not be good enough. It's not a comment on how good he's been, but where's he's at now.

A bit like Alli at his best was miles better than anyone we had at his best. But that version of him wasn't.

I worry football is now very physically competitive. If you come off the treadmill a bit, it's very easy to be left behind. It's not as easy to hide a mercurial talent as maybe it was even 20 years ago.
Wouldn’t compare him to Ali, totally different situation, Grealish will be brilliant if he comes and for more then 1 game, even if Ali was incredible in the Palace win

Why do we want to sell a player before we even buy him
Do you do it with a house or a car
Do you factor in depreciation when buying a car? Yes
Do you consider the ability to sell a house in the future when buying (e.g. short leasehold term, planning permission for huge block of flats to be built next door)? Yes
