Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

I don't think anyone thinks he's literally not good enough to wear the shirt, just that he may not be a particularly good use of resources. People failing to take that type of thing into account after everything that's happened over the last few years shows a quite staggering lack of awareness to be honest.

We would have spent more on Broja, Lindstrom and Harrison in loan fees and wages than what we will for Grealish, and the 3 of them produced next to nothing.

It’s all good getting numbers in but we need some actual quality, which Grealish has. He’d have a point to prove as well.

….i just don’t think he’s very good, but i suppose we need squad fillers. I dare say his wages won’t be cheap even subsidised.
If the desire is there, and that's a big IF, he walks into our team.

He was never a Pep player. The ultimate non-Pep player. He's direct and on paper is best on the counter, which is how we will play under Moyes.

BIG if whether he still has the desire, mind

And he might produce next to nothing, thats the point. There's also the argument that even if he does produce to a decent level, we're not really in the sort of position where it makes a massive difference - a bit like when we spent a fortune on James and finished 10th if you like. I'm not saying he's rubbish or even that it'd be a bad signing, but I think it's something that definitely has 2 sides to it, it's absolutely not a no brainer by any stretch. Partly because of the the finances and partly just because as I said earlier, he doesn't actually have a long track record of producing the goods. He's a very talented lad who can be good to watch, but he's 29 and has only really got 3 or 4 notable seasons at the top level to speak of, this isn't like we're debating whether to sign Mbappe.

As an aside, we've got no idea whether he - or anyone else - would have a point to prove. It's one of them weird buzz phrases that can be used to describe anyone you want but doesn't actually mean anything.

Tbf let the people with the money worry about the resources. I just want to be entertained

I just don't see Grealish as a Moyes signing.

The Villa Grealish would be great given a free role.

However I fear that he has lost all his hunger and desire and I see no evidence that he is able to beat a man or influence a game any more.

I think he would get a very expensive mistake even on a 1 year loan.

Much rather recruit McAtee .

I think he will have the desire. He’s hardly played recently. He knows he’s not got long left, he’s probably desperate to get out there and show what he can do. Have a good season and he could go the World Cup

That's a perfectly valid point of view, but totally different to what i'm talking about. It's the people who are effectively saying 'how can you possibly not think this is a good thing' i'm talking about. If you can see how it might not be a good thing but don't really care then that's fair enough.

….i’m less sure of him being ‘best on counter’. He tends to slow and stand his opponent up rather than be direct and pacy. Always think players like him make it difficult for central strikers looking to time their run ahead of CBs.

Also not sure he ‘walks into our team’ ahead of Ndiaye.

I have my doubts on him. Only footage I've seen of him since the treble he's been wasted. Apart from when he played at goodison and just fell over everytime he got the ball. That said, he's better than all our loan signings from last year so I'd take him

Cracking hair though.

The only reason we have a SHOT at Grealish is because of all the doubts about him. Some think hes washed up, others think he was just temporarily ruined by city. Only one of those is correct. The best clubs are able to sort through that and figure out what the truth is, getting good deals on undervalued players and avoiding the busts. Under the new ownership, I dont know if we are part of that group or not.

At the end of the day you have to trust the self made billionaires they know what they’re doing. And if they don’t then so be it. Imagine a scene were they’re sitting in the boardroom chatting their high powered ways. Oh hang on says one. Dave the bus driver is worried this not a good use of our money. Are we sure we’ve thought this through 😂
