I think everybody accepts going to Premier League matches is expensive, however as you say it's ridiculous that Everton fans are paying more for match tickets and memberships than RS. Arsenal at least in past, catered to normal working class fans and wealthier fans. It's worth pointing out that RS also know that a lot of their fans are tourists and are only going to visit once and spend huge amounts in club shop. It seems owners are trying to change Everton as a club and cleanse working class match going supporters. If that's OK to some on here that's fine, however do we really want to be like RS? I think once novelty goes large numbers of "legacy fans" who have season tickets will give them up and unless we are doing great, you'll just have empty seats. Plenty of clubs have built new stadiums and haven't achieved anything. Sunderland, Boro, Hull, Stoke, Bolton, Wigan, Cardiff, Coventry and Derby. City have to run a buy 1 get 1 free offer for certain games and that was in Champions League, when they'd just won the league. This is just a silly counter-argument.
The new pricing structure puts our ticket prices higher than LFCs - by some distance (£61 is their highest).
Now given that the two clubs share a similar demographic in terms of local fan base, Communities that score highest in the country for deprivation and poverty, you would think the price points would be at the very worst the same. Now given that LFC are also wining trophies and we have been flirting with relegation, I can’t see how the club can justify charging more.
My personal opinion is that an adult ticket should be capped at £30. Like away games.
My worry is what this means if we did qualify for Europe? Are we looking at similar prices to Villa (£90-£100)? That completely prices me as a season ticket holder out of attending all of those games.
