Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

Friday I reckon.

He has so much talent yet so little commitment to the professional discipline required to maximise it that he keeps wearing out his welcome. His lack of professionalism explains why the magic has become less and less frequent. Pep finally pretty much gave up on him and he is very respectful and nurturing of talent.

This feels like a Moshiri type ‘box office name’ signing. Massively expensive even as a loan and unlikely to provide value for money. This is not a deal any club committed seriously to building a younger, hungry, hard-working core should even consider. The fact we seem to be giving it real thought is for me easily the most worrying thing so far this summer.
My God, he’s had two permanent clubs in his career the first of which reluctantly sold him for one hundred million pounds.

How is that a player that “keeps wearing out his welcome”

I think ginola was 35 , gazza 33 and he was gazza. I think we can all agree dele was a slightly different case to the norm .

Grealish is 29 and made about 20 appearances, of varying lengths last year . Feels a little different to them .

Just in terms of being a star player, on the wane. Big wages, questionable lifestyle. Feels like an Everton sort of mistake.

I’d rather we got players on the up. He’d get bums off seats mind, and we’ve not had that in a while (N’Diaye aside).

I think of you play with Grealish you need to go with three midfield players to cover his lack of defensive application. So 4-3-3 as opposed to 4-2-3-1

Not the end if the world, but you need the squad to carry him.

He wore it out with both Southgate and Pep. He has got worse as he has got older. He’s played 1700 PL minutes in two years for City. Yes, they have a deep squad but if he was performing anywhere in the ballpark of his talent that figure would easily be more than doubled. City are reluctant to loan him out because they want him properly gone and it isn’t because they need the £. He’s a lovely lad by every account but he drinks (and other things) like a 1980s pro. Unfortunately it is the 2020s. People remember how good he was at times at Villa but that is long in the rear view mirror.
