There are as many reports saying we've had encouragement from him as there are saying he wants CL football. Both can be true.

He'd rather join a Champions League club, just as we'd rather sign Kubo. Eventually he might have to compromise. Sounds like we've put ourselves in a position to capitalise if he gets to that point anytime soon.

This is the reality and the reason people need to keep their heads.

We could’ve signed about 10 dossers by now if we wanted to. But if we want players that are generally going to improve the team, we need to hold our nerve and be prepared to lose out on a few of our targets.

These players may be our first choice, but we won’t be theirs, so it might mean waiting until towards the end of the window and they realise they aren’t getting the move to a Champions League club like they were hoping.

I didn’t take any interest in the CWC so I just took it as they turned it down, we win it next time

We may need to move quickly. If Liverpool are selling Diaz to go for Isak it means Ekitike/Gakpo on the left hand side. If they can’t get Isak, Ekitike goes into the middle and they might be looking for cover on both flanks. Hopefully we can secure Fofana before someone in Mordor wants to pump their ego like they did with Sissoko all those years ago.

Fofana's agent will already have spoken to the CL teams about signing his player. He will already know if there is any interest there... so far we have seen these CL clubs sign other targets. Fofana will hold off on joining Everton until there is no worthwhile CL option and maybe we are close to that now.

I don't think we can frog march any player into a deal they are not entirely comfortable with.

It may be what David Moyes meant when he said we have been told no FOR NOW by some very good players.
