2024/25 David Moyes

About 3 games into the preseason and Moyes is already reverting to his "knife to a gun fight" stance.

I was hoping it was Kenwright that was responsible for spreading such attitudes around the club. Apparently not ...

Did you see the graphics last night in this mini tournament. We couldnt even fill the bench.
Its not even a knife. Its a plastic spoon.
He isnt wrong.

No he isn't. He is in an impossible situation. The club has quite rightly let the out of contract wasters leave. However , for whatever reason , have not been able to recruit either enough quantity , or quality , replacements. Just look at our bench last night. Keepers and kids. What do you expect Moyes to do , other than , as he has , point out the state of the squad. It would be better in my view , not to try to twist the facts to suit your narrative.

Come on mate. He's clearly not. We desperately need players. We should not have kept the players we let go - they were terrible. We really do need players and Moyes is calling on the board to get them. He was also talking up aiming to get into Europe during his Men In Blazers thing.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, chaps. I just don't think Moyes should be talking like this in public because, even if we do buy another 7 players, he is going to have to rely on the existing squad to a large extent. Going around telling everyone how crap they all are (even if it is true) hardly sets the right tone.

Whilst he does have some influence over the composition of the group, surely his job is to get the best out of whatever set of professional footballers he is asked to work with ...

This is starting to feel like all our yesterdays from moyes. He has final say on who he wanted to keep out of the players who have left. Deals were offered to doucoure and calvert lewin and they said no. Keane stayed. So i imagine moyes draws up a list of players he wants and the club try to sign them. So its either the players he wants are players who are going to have multiple clubs after them. If thats the case it will take time coz of where the club is at the minute. Or the club say we can sign player X for centre midfield and moyes says yes or no. Either way moyes is in charge. He knows exactly whats going on and he also knew players would be leaving this summer. We've been here before under moyes where we have hung on and on for players who ended up at clubs in better positions than we were. He then starts moaning in interviews that he hasnt got what he wants. "We've got no players." Etc etc.The difference this time is he has money by all accounts. Lets see what happens.
