Amazing. Our daughter, who goes to football lessons every Tuesday, enraptured.

Did they ride their luck at times? Yes. Were some tactical decisions earlier in the tournament misjudged and too slowly rectified? Yes. Does it matter? No; most teams who win tournaments benefit from luck at times, and few make it without any course corrections.

They won the trophy. All the other teams, including those who might be considered better, didn’t. Can’t argue with it - but not ONLY that, they defended their crown, which I don’t think has ever been done before in the women’s game.

Kudos.
