2024/25 Tim Iroegbunam

Said it last season but I think he's a bit of a Bellingham. He's a bit of a half midfielder and half forward type player, would operate best in that half space between the forward and midfield where he can kind of float and do his thing but that's not sustainable for a club at our level. It's only really sustainable at the top level where your squad is packed with quality. I like him and he does have talent but I think he will struggle to make it as a starting PL player if he doesn't refine some parts of his game to become an 8.

What age is the demarcation point for being young player being as:
Tim Iroegbunam : 22
Thierno Barry : 22
Jarrad Branthwaite : 23
Carlos Alcaraz : 22

Cut off point honestly is 23 is say, long as they are eligible to play say for the international under 21 team or qualify as a young player of the season they're a young player.

For zat however I think it's about 16

Still unsure on his position. When I watched him for England youth sides he was always a 6 and a bloody good one, now though watching him for us I wouldn't trust him there at all.
That's the huge gulf between your physicality at youth level outweighing your nouse. Need both to make it at this level.

Honestly he does some pretty good stuff and that ball over the top to McNeil is the kind of creativity and skill he is capable of. I think he is one of those players that wants to play at his own pace which doesn't usually work in this league. Because of that he is a better attacker than defender at this moment. It's not his tackling ability or athleticism that is holding him back. He just needs to get into the mindset that he is a destroyer that can turn on the Moussa Dembele switch on a dime.

Lack of application perhaps in his game

When he's switched on he looks like a monster, but can then drift through half an hour without touching the ball

Last night was a case in point

If he can get up to full fitness and add some consistency he could be a secret weapon for us this year

Unclear to me whether he's got the minerals to do that though

Happy to be vaulted come the end of the season but I think he has what Moyes likes and that he can be improved with some good coaching. Every time he's played he's put in a good shift - he simply needs games and coaching, but I think he's the type who could save us a few £.
Agree, he has elite tools. He's the type of player we need to develop. There's definitely a player in there with the right coaching

I think Tim and Harrison need to be tossed into the pool and see if they can swim. No more loans. I believe Harrison is ready and might be a starter after December. Tim needs confidence and more match time. It’s what Beto struggled with. If you’re always coming in after 60’ as a sub, it’s near impossible to establish a rhythm. Real playing time is what’s needed. Then you’ll know one way or the other what you’ve got.
