New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I would guess the staircase behind the club shop is connected to internal concourses and/or hospitality areas. Then, after games, fans exiting the stadium are directed through the club shop before leaving the stadium, thus increasing sales in the shop.

I may be wrong but that would make sense. It's a common tactic for venues to direct exiting customers through a souvenir shop.

Or the staircase could be designed for non match day stadium tours. Again, such tours typically end up in the club shop.

It was obvious (should have been) that the lack of available cash throughout the construction process, would impact finishes.

Anyone who has been involved in a construction project, where the sponsor hits financial problems knows the score. A normal project may repeatedly go through many cost reviews.

We were skint. It’s undoubtedly the case that we must have cut corners.

Unfortunately, cost cutting decisions made at this stage, are usually bonkers and wrong. They usually cost too much to put right afterwards.

It’s called value engineering, it actually means, saved you money. Cost you a fortune in future, but don’t care, as it wasn’t our job.

Even before we started building the stadium, Meis made a point in saying it wouldn't be like Spurs' ground in terms of fit and finish. It's difficult to say for sure that things haven't had to be toned down further, but the bare concrete concourses, no cellings, were kind of implied before we had those financial issues.

Disneyland employ it on all their rides, you walk off the ride and into the themed shop. Very apt comparison after last nights second half performance against Bournemouth..

Not to praise other teams stadiums but, went to The Spurs stadium for a concert last night….and all I can say is wow super modern stadium, fantastic sound because of the bowl and roof coverage, easy dispersal of the crowd after the show too.
Spurs have had a number of concerts and boxing events and it must be a good stream of non football related income, definitely something we should be maximising at BMD
Already got the rugby league in November which is sold out next some big summer concerts with 60-70,000 in attendance (bearing in mind the tickets for last night where £110!!)

It`ll be interesting to see what other events we can get held at BMD to generate extra income. The summer should see us getting a few big attendances for concerts, and it would be good to see us take advantage of the international breaks during the season and get something on for those weekends there will be no game in the PL.

It's extra income alright but the artist and promoter will be taking most of it. Really all depends on the deal struck. Other revenues likely to be split also such as F&B, merchandising, parking etc.
Then deduct cost of replacing pitch etc.

I've just been to the shop and I think it's absolutely fine. I like the bare, exposed look, some say it's cheap but it's also very functional. I wonder if for gigs and Euro 28 they'll simply swap stock around.

It also mimics the concourses where you're left in no doubt you're there for the match not a plate of cheese.

Need to sort those blue dot lights out. One has blown out and gone green and sticks out like a sore thumb, and the few after it are weird elongated shapes compared to the others. Sorry, but it looks a mess.

“Always something to moan about”

Yeah yeah. I know I’m not the only one that’s just seen it.

One of my work colleagues lives very near, they get complementary tickets for most concerts due to "local disruption", they sent some footage of Imagine Dragons from last night, place was buzzing, look so good.
