Sacked De Rossi and caught hell months.

Then went for a old calm head in Ranieri,which paid dividends and basically followed the same path with us and Moyes.

They seen the value of Moyes after taking from Dyche.

Yeah you are wide of the mark,in my extremely humble opinion.

All I'll say is these new owners haven't been massively impressive up to now. I didn't think it would be an easy summer, but it's been a lot slower than even I thought it'd be. We've all been happily distracted by the stadium etc., and appreciative that the financials of the club seem to have been stabilised, but we're football fans at the end of the day, and it's what happens on the field that will set the tone.

I thought we'd have had some kind of wow moment by now. Just one. But it's been very understated. So, I'm skeptical until I have reason not to be.

That said, if we could bring through the two names linked yesterday over the coming week, that would go a long way to reassuring people. But we need a squad and I do fear a slow start because players are either not in or take a while to settle when they do eventually come through the door. And I wouldn't be so sure that Moyes is bulletproof in this environment. Losing to, say, Leeds wouldn't cut much ice whether we have an unfinished squad or not. So, yeah, I think we are in potentially turbulent times as things are so fluid at the moment: we don't know what new players we will get, we don't really know what these owners actual ambitions are, we don't really know how they will react to certain situations.

There’d have been some carotid blow outs on here. Really does show that the content of what the manager says is largely irrelevant compared to the lens in which a person is viewing it through.

As for the comments themselves I agree that we need a mix of experience and youth in the team and Moyes will know what he wants with that, some people might not like it but he was never going to set up for the season with a squad of kids.

No idea what he’s going on about the grass for ha. Overall though I like his tone this summer, it seems bullish and he’s effectively set an expectation for the owners to give him what he needs. He’ll have us in good shape I think.

It was a satisfactory first half last night, but surely Moyes and the players would have known that they would be exhausted by the second half playing in the manner they did at this stage, and also, that there were no replacements ?

Was this all intentional? It seems so to me, unless the game plan was to get 5-0 up before half time and let the subs soak up the pressure. But maybe not simply to demonstrate we need players now, but also which/who's players perhaps.

I’m sure it was embarrassing. But these preseason tournaments are just commercial money spinners and are more of a distraction than anything else.

To me it looked like last night was more than just fitness. We had intensity in our play and we played quite well for most of that first half. Winning the ball back when we lost it and pressing for it was nice to see. We had some good chances too. Second half, they had our number.

They are about getting match fit .
Which isn’t just about physical fitness , that can be achieved on the training ground .
It’s to get the team performing as a unit competitively, working out positioning , testing new ideas , getting new players integrated.
As far as the team is concerned the financial side is irrelevant.
You are correct in one respect , results aren’t as important as performances .

It's an important part, sure, especially with Moyes (didn't he used to claim he aimed for his squad to peak later and finish stronger ?), but i'm sure there's a lot more that can be improved within a squad than just fitness mate, especially as it's his first pre-season with these players.

Yeah, sure, especially with our squad, and even if we had signed a few more players a more low-key series of games would have been better for the team imo. But it is what it is and we committed and we've been caught with our pants down in front of a rather large and prioritised audience in the owner's back yard.

Moyes teams in his first spell of manager started the season slow. He will get no time from this lot.
