Transfer Rumour Malick Fofana

I think the club is going well mate. It needs to be in the same room competing for these players, some wont get their moves, but means we need to be patient.

We've gone through 10 years, certainly the last five compromising on quality to make do, im wholly behind a strategy of being ambitious and trying to get quality to raise all boats.

It will happen, why? Look around the league you have clubs smaller then us rocking great players. Bournmouth, Brentford, Brighton, Forest, WHU, Palace - organically they shouldnt be in the conversation wit us - but they show us what can be done etc.

Our time is coming 100%.

Im prepared to hold the tension and not compromise to achieve what i describe above. Its an exercise in not blinking, having a plan and not crumbling, that's what separates the men from the boys.

Im prepared for this to go right to the wire.
I’m still concerned I with what appears to be the strategy we are taking in terms of targets but I guess we will know how this plays out September 2nd.

Nobody really wants to play for us though do they? I mean even I’d rather play for Real Madrid and I’ve had a season ticket for 30 years.

In an absolute sense, nobody does, no. I don't place any stock in the new stadium as a vehicle for attracting players. For all the talk of relegation, we have been virtually relegated for decades. Not in the conversation, not relevant.

It's really just our PL status that is a draw. And the potential that we might improve over a period of years. Sadly, to get any coveted young player, we probably have to give them a guarantee that we'll let them go for good money in a few years, I don't mind that.

All that said, in a global game, a club with as many squad holes as us should be attractive to many players, along with the riches of the Premier League in general.

We'll get the players in, but I'm not sure we're casting the net as far as we could. Fofana is an example there. He is on every clubs radar and no scouting prowess required. We have to be far more thorough and broader in our search.

Oh absolutely, in terms of football as a whole we’re a very attractive proposition. My point was more just nobody is out there dreaming of coming here specifically, anybody who signs for us is doing so because we’re their best option so the idea of only signing players who really want to be here is totally pie in the sky.

I read it as we’re asking his camp if he’s interested, which after already lodging a bid is hilarious.

Would that be classed as a kind of tapping up though ? Though again that is exactly what I would do and most other clubs, can't see the point of mulling, pondering etc and putting in a public bid when you could be laughed out of court when the player says no publicly.
