Everton 0-3 Bournemouth. Sat July 26th. 9 Pm.

Individual preseason results are irrelevant but a trend is a different matter. It would appear that we have got rid of very average players but it now appears those average players where the best we had, unless Moyes gets the nine players he says he needs it will be more of the same this season.

Hopefully it is a bit of a wake up call for the club regarding the speed of transfers, or lack thereof
You're absolutely right about the need for transfers, even though that statement has been repeated countless times on here. We competed well with Bournemouth in the first half and dare I say we were the better team during that first half. However, in the second half, we gifted them two goals which we should never have conceded. Without conceding those, we would have given ourselves a fighting chance there. New signings could allow us to match a supposedly weakened Bournemouth in terms of squad depth.

O'Brien made a poor mistake but he has shown plenty of promise besides that mistake. Hopefully he can dust himself off and go again on Wednesday. Patterson, meanwhile, should be on his way out, so long as we can acquire a long-term replacement. I don't have a vendetta against him, but he has had enough time to prove himself and just has not lived up to expectations for one reason or another - be it injuries, managerial changes or lack of game time. We need to improve on him and move him on for his own sake too.

It is preseason so on one hand it doesn't matter. On the other, we sign up for a tournament to boost our following in another country and we get smashed...again.

If we commit to these things then we should go with a capable squad to get a result. We are not playing PSG, Real or Bayern here and we must do better, it's yet another missed opportunity.

When they put the team subs up all the other 3 sides filled the screen. Everton couldnt even fill screen with squad numbers. It sounds a ridiculous thing to pick up on but we look a bit amateurish.
Im surprised we got the invite.

Personally, I think it was madness this club traveling to the US for this when we have made such a mess of the window so far. We were simply not prepared, yet we have Kinnear telling us the US is "such an important market" for us. If it was that important, why are we reducing the value of our brand by performing like this?

I take little heed of pre-season matches, but we're miles off where we should be for late July.

Oh come on you can't say that when, just prior, you brought up brand value FFS...in PRE-SEASON.

We should be going to the US with at least half of our new players to bed in and represent the club properly.

Kinnear was waffling about the importance of the tour for the new players - but what new players? Barry? Travers? Who else? He was going on about the US as an important market. So why put on a show as bad as that?

They are miles behind where they need to be.

If we can't do ourselves justice, stay home and lose to Blackburn.
