Transfer Rumour Adam Aznou

Remember Pickford was relegated before we bought him, so was Gana. Lads 19 and clearly very talented.
Oh I'm absolutely in favour of signing him, but I was just pointing out that looking at his stats on fbref and concluding that he's pretty much a defensive specialist who doesn't get forward is probably not accurate because the actual playing situation itself was so skewed. And to add: Even though the raw numbers defensively were almost assuredly so high because he was constantly having to defend, there are lots of other players at that position in those situations who would not have been anywhere near as high percentiles, so I think it is fair to at least conclude that he is both willing and able to engage defensively - I just get the impression that he's extremely effective in attack as well.

Let us get Aznou actually signed before we anoint/dismiss him but coming through Barcelona youth and Bayern does make it more likely that he does not treat the football like a live hand grenade which will do for a start.

Aznou obviously ain't him but "Barca youth" is forever sullied in my mind after Sandro

I’m enthused by the fact he has solid defensive stats, that’s half the battle with these young defenders.
Expect Moyes to be cautious unless super ready defensively.

To my memory, David Moyes did not make Coleman or Baines a regular at Fullback for at least a season and a half after they were signed, Coleman went to Blackpool and on his return played mostly right wing I think Hibbert was preferred at FB for a time and Baines was behind Lescott for a long time before being trusted at FB. Others with better memories can correct me if I’m mistaken.

I’d be happy enough with this as long as these signings are made now. With the view of playing them sporadically throughout the season or giving them 20-30 mins at the end of a game.

I’m happy enough for JOB to stay at RB this season if needs be personally

….noticed that, yet there’s hardly a defensive clip of him and he’s built like a jockey. Looks very comfortable in possession, tricky and pacy to go past opposition players and can pick a pass. Everything about him suggests his strengths are as an attacking FB.

I agree was just saying both Gana and Pickford had similar stats with Villa and Sunderland going down and they turned in to elite players, hopefully it was a big learning experience for him which will help him and us hopefully bring more possession based we can see his attacking side as he clearly good on the ball

Completely ignoring the point about Moyes progressing him!🫣
Seriously, have you ever played football. You don’t suddenly become comfortable on the ball aged 25. You can work on positioning and nous but touch and technique are done by that age. Did you not notice how Doucoure technical never improved. Despite training every day he still couldn’t trap a ball.

You say always will be and I'll ask my question again, didn't his attacking stats improve under Moyes?
I don’t care about stats. I watch the way a player receives the ball under pressure, their ability to dribble and manipulate the ball and the quality of their passing. Myko is extremely low grade and always will be even if he hits a couple of crosses that get headed in. He’s very poor in possession.
