I agree, our owners are one of the biggest Toyota dealers in the world, surly there could have been a deal done there.. A massive company known worldwide.I agree.
Shirt sponsorship is far more intimate and noticeable a connection. It’s persistently visually associated with the club both for the duration of the deal and historically looking backwards.
I’m already thinking of Hill Dickinson as a place rather than a company. I think its obscurity makes it seem less like a sponsor name.

It’s not a cumbersome name to use, I find it has a satisfying flow to it : the hill Dickinson stadium. They have paid for their logo to be displayed on the stadium which is done in a manner complimentary to the building. It's a cumbersome name to use; it's nowhere near the size 'brand' partners we should be associating with; their logos are now DOMINATING a brand new £700M stadium - one win which we ourselves have not established our identity in yet.
If there was a text book written about how to bollocks up a naming rights deal then Everton have written it for all other clubs in similar situations.
The decision making on this is utterly alarming, btw. That we have club governors who see this as A/ a fitting partnership and B/ aesthetically acceptable makes me fear the worst about them.
It does have a nice rhythm to itI’ve noticed that too .
Had it been named something like the ‘Toyota Stadium ‘ for instance, I feel certain I’d still be referring to it as BMD . It just sounds too impersonal , Etihad and Emirates lack a sense of place in the way Maine Road and Highbury once did .
Surprised how easily Hill Dickinson flows off the tongue also . It’s a more homely stadium name for its lack of obvious soulless corporatism .
Not bothered about the name, so long as the cash that they are paying is the best we could get from a naming rights deal, thats what getting a stadium sponsor is about. It's a cumbersome name to use; it's nowhere near the size 'brand' partners we should be associating with; their logos are now DOMINATING a brand new £700M stadium - one win which we ourselves have not established our identity in yet.

A common misconception that has been repeated since they were first mentioned and why everyone thought we’d get a Toyota deal. They are not a dealer group. They have exactly ZERO dealerships. They sell ZERO Toyotas to anyone. We were never going to get a Toyota sponsorship as their names aren’t really linked as far as the public are concerned. They do a (big) job for Toyota, that’s it.I agree, our owners are one of the biggest Toyota dealers in the world, surly there could have been a deal done there.. A massive company known worldwide.
