Someone needs bringing in as the lightning rod for physicality that Doucoure was, we need a bit of muscle and steel because sides will look to bully us.

I would imagine he’s come off the back of a meeting where the team is about to actually go get after some players seriously rather than him saying stuff in a fan meeting has kick started it.

I took his comment of that's where Everton should be, roughly were we where under him.

I genuinely didn't interpret it as some fantastical dream.

If he'd have said "I want us to win the league" it would go viral and he'd become a complete laughing stock of the footballing world.

They're words that sound ambitious but on closer inspection are profoundly conservative.

His expectation is for much less...but we can at least 'aim' to get to those higher places.

I was at this event last night.

Much of the conversation concerned our fight to avoid relegation.

In that context for Moyes to say that we should be aspiring to Europe was in no way shape or form the kind of damming by low expectations that you seem to think it was.

You have to be willfully distorting to get to that conclusion.

I have, as do others, long term experience of Moyes and his deep seated perception of what's possible / impossible for this club.

That's how I interpreted his words. Context only gets you so far in this instance.

If you add the three resigned plus the 2 we did sign its another 4 players or if you add Pickford's & Braithwaite's new deals - it's another 2 oh & the new keeper so its one more signing ? ? it will be never be 9 - a winger & 2 full backs at the most if we are lucky another midfielder .....

I genuinely think you're looking to closely at his comments and letting your dislike for him runaway with itself.

A 6th place finish this for this football club considering we've been on life support would be brilliant.

From relegation battles to getting our passports out would be a great turnaround.
