I always said leaving Goodison would be the death of the club as we know it.
We've seen it happening at other clubs for the last few years and now it's out turn. The club no longer sees us as fans, we are being reimaged as customers.
Having to pay for the pre season streams (previously free to season ticket holders) was the first canary in the coal mine.
Watch it become even more apparent as time goes on.
For a start, the club should be offering refunds to anyone who has signed up to this membership. They've been misled and let down.
As for the FAB, they are dealing with yanks and their new regime of yes-men now. It will all fall on deaf ears as $$$ is all they care about.
That last game at Goodison wasn't saying goodbye to the stadium, it was everything you loved about Everton being resigned to the history books.
I appreciate your point, nor am I going to disagree on the whole, as it was predictable that our new overlords would want to maximise their investment.
But, if we want to move away from relegation fighting each year and dream of once again achieving some form of success, it is most likely the way to do so.
We can't have our cake and eat it, so to speak. The stadium was never going to pay for itself, nor could we ever expect the owners to swallow the cost.
What we can hope for is a balanced approach by TFG, where there is a level of practicality and compassion - not losing what makes Everton, well Everton.
Undoubtedly, there will be bumps along the road and not every decision will be the right one, but I would hope that in the mainstay they're suitable.
This whole change for example can be viewed two ways: they're looking for an avenue to provide more fans the opportunity to attend a game.
Selfishly, this will help rise their profits because it will mean more membership and money in the shop et al., but that shouldn't ignore the equity it brings.
The flip side is that it now makes it harder for some fans who regularly attended, like choosing their specific seats or for STs wanted to sit with a friend.
But it was never going to please all. Objectively, I would say for the wider fan base, it's probably an improvement, even consider the £60 membership cost.
Whether we like it or not, we can either choose to stand still as we once were, or move with the times; neither is perfect, and both will be uncomfortable.
Build a stadium that's too small and then rip off anyone who doesn't have a season ticket. What a great way to operate. I was looking forward to going to the new ground at some point, but not sure that'll happen now.
We can't blame TFG for that. Also, let's not ignore that building the stadium this size nearly pushed us to oblivion, so a costlier build would have!
