Everton Ticketing Changes

This would be the only method I can think of. But, not sure a season ticket holder can enter the ballot? At least they have said that.
Assume the ST holder will also have to purchase a membership???

Not sure it is worth it and going to judge how my little one gets on at the Roma game anyway. Expect he remains a little too young to be going all the games anyway…

I always said leaving Goodison would be the death of the club as we know it.

We've seen it happening at other clubs for the last few years and now it's out turn. The club no longer sees us as fans, we are being reimaged as customers.

Having to pay for the pre season streams (previously free to season ticket holders) was the first canary in the coal mine.

Watch it become even more apparent as time goes on.

For a start, the club should be offering refunds to anyone who has signed up to this membership. They've been misled and let down.

As for the FAB, they are dealing with yanks and their new regime of yes-men now. It will all fall on deaf ears as $$$ is all they care about.

That last game at Goodison wasn't saying goodbye to the stadium, it was everything you loved about Everton being resigned to the history books.
I appreciate your point, nor am I going to disagree on the whole, as it was predictable that our new overlords would want to maximise their investment.

But, if we want to move away from relegation fighting each year and dream of once again achieving some form of success, it is most likely the way to do so.

We can't have our cake and eat it, so to speak. The stadium was never going to pay for itself, nor could we ever expect the owners to swallow the cost.

What we can hope for is a balanced approach by TFG, where there is a level of practicality and compassion - not losing what makes Everton, well Everton.

Undoubtedly, there will be bumps along the road and not every decision will be the right one, but I would hope that in the mainstay they're suitable.

This whole change for example can be viewed two ways: they're looking for an avenue to provide more fans the opportunity to attend a game.

Selfishly, this will help rise their profits because it will mean more membership and money in the shop et al., but that shouldn't ignore the equity it brings.

The flip side is that it now makes it harder for some fans who regularly attended, like choosing their specific seats or for STs wanted to sit with a friend.

But it was never going to please all. Objectively, I would say for the wider fan base, it's probably an improvement, even consider the £60 membership cost.

Whether we like it or not, we can either choose to stand still as we once were, or move with the times; neither is perfect, and both will be uncomfortable.

Build a stadium that's too small and then rip off anyone who doesn't have a season ticket. What a great way to operate. I was looking forward to going to the new ground at some point, but not sure that'll happen now.
We can't blame TFG for that. Also, let's not ignore that building the stadium this size nearly pushed us to oblivion, so a costlier build would have!

The way it should be done is to not go so far as rip non ST holders off but charge them a bit more, knowing that with the football fan you`re dealing with repeat customers who want to return as many times as they can, and spend as much as they can afford when doing so. Then hold as many other events, like the rugby league and Taylor Swift style concert event, and that`s when you go for the jugular and get every penny out of them that you can, knowing that the folks that go are probably not slightly interested in Everton and will probably not cross the door at BMD until the next rip off event they want to see comes to town.

Thank God the ladies are due to play a game in the new ground as I can`t see them over charging for that game and it could give other folks a chance to visit. Its either that or an early league cup game that I`ll hope to visit.

So what do you think you were flogged exactly? Genuine question. Did you think a FB+ guaranteed you a ticket? If you didn’t, then my next question would be…

Would you prefer to have to log onto the ticketing website at 10am on a Monday morning along with 1000s of other FB+ members, wait in the Virtual Queue, wait to get assigned a slot on the website, then quickly try and select and buy your seat before someone else does, panicking at the risk of internet drop outs, IT glitches etc, before the tickets all sell out.

Or would you rather just spend 30 seconds popping in your customer number and selecting your preferred stand into a ballot, and waiting to see if you have any luck that way?

Because either way, there are no guarantees, but the ballot way would be much less stressful. People have been moaning about the stress and hassle of the 10am website rush for a few seasons now.
I think you'd be surprised at the answer to that from most.

The former way offers the chance that perseverance and dedication will have its rewards. That there's some agency involved to being a member. The latter takes that away and replaces it with a detached remoteness where all is out of control.

It’s not that big a change tbh. You pretty much needed to be a member to get a ticket last season. Membership is more expensive obviously but I think everyone expected a price hike for the new stadium.

Is first come first served fairer than a ballot? You could argue both ways tbh.

I genuinely suggest you go and read the posts on the Everton ticket Facebook pages and other social media platforms from the last couple of seasons from the days that tickets went on sale. Literally dozens and dozens of posts every single sale day moaning, whinging and cryarsing about the whole set up, and how it was nigh on impossible for many to get a ticket for various reasons.

The club have changed that now to make it (in my opinion) simpler and fairer. You no longer have to be sat at your PC at 930am hitting F5 while at work or worrying about other things getting in the way on sales day. Are people still moaning about it? Of course. But that’s what I meant in my previous posts, the club literally can’t win with most people regardless of what they do / implement.

Yes, a relatively small amount of anecdotal evidence to back up the claim a lottery is seen as a fairer way of doing things.

For some it might well suit. For the vast majority who wish to be able to queue for one it wont be.

You're trying to make the new system sound like its a superior and fairer model when it's nothing like that. Fair enough if your family or mates get a better chance of a ticket, but at least acknowledge that and dont blithely state that a lucky dip is a major step forward from the age old queuing for a ticket for everyone. It's not. .
