New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I agree.

Shirt sponsorship is far more intimate and noticeable a connection. It’s persistently visually associated with the club both for the duration of the deal and historically looking backwards.

I’m already thinking of Hill Dickinson as a place rather than a company. I think its obscurity makes it seem less like a sponsor name.
I agree, our owners are one of the biggest Toyota dealers in the world, surly there could have been a deal done there.. A massive company known worldwide.

I’ve noticed that too .
Had it been named something like the ‘Toyota Stadium ‘ for instance, I feel certain I’d still be referring to it as BMD . It just sounds too impersonal , Etihad and Emirates lack a sense of place in the way Maine Road and Highbury once did .
Surprised how easily Hill Dickinson flows off the tongue also . It’s a more homely stadium name for its lack of obvious soulless corporatism .

It's a cumbersome name to use; it's nowhere near the size 'brand' partners we should be associating with; their logos are now DOMINATING a brand new £700M stadium - one win which we ourselves have not established our identity in yet.

If there was a text book written about how to bollocks up a naming rights deal then Everton have written it for all other clubs in similar situations.

The decision making on this is utterly alarming, btw. That we have club governors who see this as A/ a fitting partnership and B/ aesthetically acceptable makes me fear the worst about them.
It’s not a cumbersome name to use, I find it has a satisfying flow to it : the hill Dickinson stadium. They have paid for their logo to be displayed on the stadium which is done in a manner complimentary to the building.

We have one of the top deals in Europe, improving on the majority who have gone before.

The decision making is bold, visionary and values driven selecting an iconic Liverpool born firm with a strong global reputation and a historic connection to the club. The aesthetic quality of the logo (typography/ monochrome) adds a touch of class to an already iconic stadium.

It does have a nice rhythm to it

Not bothered about the name, so long as the cash that they are paying is the best we could get from a naming rights deal, thats what getting a stadium sponsor is about.

A common misconception that has been repeated since they were first mentioned and why everyone thought we’d get a Toyota deal. They are not a dealer group. They have exactly ZERO dealerships. They sell ZERO Toyotas to anyone. We were never going to get a Toyota sponsorship as their names aren’t really linked as far as the public are concerned. They do a (big) job for Toyota, that’s it.

They act as a distributor of Toyotas for an area in the US. I.e. Toyotas enter the US and for the gulf states TFG will move, store and distribute cars into the dealer network. Purely storage and logistics. Not an arrangement needed in the UK. E.g. BMWs all just go and sit in Thorne to be distributed to dealer groups. BMW UK run Thorne in the same way TFG run their area in the US.

In terms of the stadium name, I’m also surprised how quickly its awkwardness went away. Sounds fine to me now. In the same way that when people don’t like a new kit, it’s never mentioned again after 48 hours of fume.

Unlike Emirates or Etihad, when people hear Hill Dickinson they’ll automatically think of the Everton stadium, not a law firm.

I think that’s what makes the choice to go with HD all the better.
