Transfer Rumour Douglas Luiz

Yes mate i have thought it through, i dont want us to win the cup to get us into Europe i want us to win for the pleasure and euphoria it gives by winning a trophy.

Would i be jumping about about if we finished 6th or even 4th? NO absolutely not

Would i if we won the FA cup and finished 14th? Absolutely i would
I get what you’re saying but if we finish 6th and win a cup it suggests we have progressed as a team and can look forward to more success in the future .
Whereas if we win a cup but finish 14th it suggests we have got lucky in a knockout competition and not progressed as a team implying that the future is still not particularly rosy .

Was reading a piece in the The Athletic yesterday about how the profile of big money transfers has been getting progressively younger over the years.

Coincidentally enough, the high-water mark that they named was when a 33 y.o. CR7 moved in 2018 for 100m from Real to ... Juventus.

And it looks like they have overextended themselves again here.

Gyökeres to Arsenal at his age and the money they are paying is something of a throwback.

I thought it was an interesting comparison that someone made earlier in the thread about Johnny Heitinga - he probably didn't really want to come here, but did as there were no better options.

Hopefully he enjoyed his time with us in the end like.

Big Doug is 27 - quite possible that no "elite" teams want to throw money at him now that his market value has peaked.

...whereas for the likes of us and Forest - who aren't back at that table (yet) - it's worth the outlay for a player who can undoubtedly upgrade us.

What fly to Europe just to fly to the states?
I don't think it would make sense for him to join the team during the summer series, which is pretty short, but agreeing to return is probably a sign that a deal is ready. He has to give himself and Juventus a chance to save face. They can say they made him report and account for his absence, and then agree to a sale, and he can make an appearance and wave away any accusations of unprofessionalism by claiming personal circumstances and a misunderstanding, etc., issue a respectful statement, and fly to England.
