Transfer Rumour Douglas Luiz

I’m guessing because they want to sign the player in question or facilitate the transfer . We got Cahill because they refused to pay a fee and I think united looked to reduce payments when Moyes was appointed and missed out on pretty much all their targets . You wonder if their recent years might have looked different .

It’s hard to argue that agents are a benefit to the game but they exist and are now integral to how it operates .

Whether it’s sports agents , PR or brand managers in marketing, literary agents or estate agents it feels like all the fields would function fine without them but we’ll never find out as they’re all engrained in everyday life .
I'm after a bit of land in north Wilts, just to use as an allotment. The average price for agricultural land here is around 8-10k per acre, because theres a lot if wealthy horsey ladies throwing money at their hobby. Ask gtp verified this figure based on recent purchases also.

The trouble is, land often goes within the horsey network before it comes to market, so its hard to find. So I asked an agent about sone near me that they're selling off in smallholder lots. They've just sold 11 acres at 150k - dear ... but local seen that with my own eyes. This is how it went (simplified):

Have you got an acre?

No response. A week later....

Have you got an acre?

Oh yes, top quality land low risk of flooding, high nutrient soil etc etc. 1 acre £130k

Errrr. . Assuming you've not made a mistake with a decimal point, can you explain why its over 10x the going rate?

I don't know where you get your figures from but top quality land like this gets a premium.

The soil is on the same geology as my garden, its high N but low P and K so its all used for grazing and nobody really grows other crops. You haven't explained why this acre is worth about 10x more than land YOU recently sold in the same area. I'm not sure there's enough trust in you for us to do business

I wish you well in your search.

You're a Great British Business Chancer, aren't you? Just seeing what you'll get away with. Sharp practice.

I detest agents and middlemen. As you say, the world would exist happily without them, yet they take disproportionate rewards for blagging.

I’d rather ticket prices were affordable , and the majority of the money was returned to game , supporting grass roots clubs for instance .
Football was once the working man’s game , now attending matches is increasingly a middle class pursuit . Players wages drive prices upwards along with corporate ownership seeking profit for shareholders.
I'd blame the PL for that, not the players. They not only drive up the price of airing the matches, funnelling millions into the clubs, they have created a market condition that forces clubs to charge more to compete.

If players don't have the high wages, the suits will keep it for themselves. None of it will go to fans

I don’t blame the players , I blame the game , the administrators past and present who have eroded its standards for the sake of their own personal greed and prestige .
Who sold out to the television companies.
Who lacked any moral stature to oppose the erosion of the game to a simple pursuit of money.
Where supporters debate the finances of the club more than the tactics , players or goals.
We have all lost something that was precious.
Simplest solution would have been to re - introduce a wage cap to dilute some of the damage .
Most of all I blame supporters , including myself, for standing by and letting it happen until it was too late to save .
The game is gone.
All that is left is the addiction.

That is true tbf
We did let it happen
The idea of more TV money and being able to attract more talent from overseas blinded us all to the inevitable market inflation in fees and wages and tickets.
It has increased the gap at the top, and the gap between PL and championship seems ridiculous now with promoted teams having to work wonders to stay up.

Couldn't of put it better myself, excellent summary of a sadly soulless game now

Anyway back on topic

We should pull out of this one, if he was minded to come to Everton it would be happening by now.

He is obviously holding out for someone else and has discipline issues

This post is spot on.

The bit in bold is what really annoys me about modern day football.
I even hate the qualify to get into Europe shouts.

I would take winning the Carabou cup (Whatever its called now) FA cup and finish 14th every season over qualifying for Europe or the CL.

I hate the fact that players and managers can sign 5 year deals and then be moved on the next season.
Their should be a cap on the length of contracts to a maximum of 3 years for players and 2 years for a manager as well as a salary cap.

Its self imploding and i honestly cant wait for it to happen, the greed and money in the game is sickening especially when the heartbeat of the game is the fans who many are struggling week to week but find a way to follow their club.

Your right though following Everton now is more of an addiction/weekly ritual than a passion.

Sorry back on topic, has he signed yet? Give him what he wants :p

One of the best posts I've read on here. Absolutely spot on that.😢;)

I love these little journeys chris, I honestly really do. Have you considered putting a little journal together? Not a diary as such, that'd be to regimented, more a collection of anecdotes and short stories. The boat, best practices in schools, home made speakers, 5 times the kitchens, various jobsworth workmen, all interconnected by operating under the due diligence of performing for her ladyship. It could be a cracker.

Rules like the foreign player limit were good rules which meant clubs couldn't just horde all the best players from the world and create worldwide dream teams. I think a rule where you can only have 5 foreign players in your starting 11 and out of the other 6 who have to be English 2 have to have come through your academy system from say the age of 10. That way clubs would have identity and a local element with an exotic mix of what foreign players can bring. No doubt I'd be called Brexit now though

You'd take winning two cups a season and not qualifying for Europe when winning either cup automatically do just that?

You haven't thought this through have you.
