Transfer Rumour Douglas Luiz

Fully agree. A solicitor could advise footballers on contracts and surely anyone with a brain could decide which clubs are of interest to them.

NFL Quarterback Lamar Jackson negotiated a huge contract with the Baltimore Ravens with only an advisor. He didn't need an agent. It's not a pre requisite.

If I was a professional footballer I would only instruct a solicitor to assist me with contracts. No need for an agent to rinse out a large commission when they most likely have a hidden agenda with any supposed advice.

Im certainly no advocate for agents but isnt a contract only part of the job and pitching for sponsors and merchandising deals where they earn their dough(%)

so you’d have the likes of Cole palmer or Grealish , ravel Morrison , Rooney and the rest doing there only deals with a solicitor to advise ? The same profession that would almost certainly advise them to say no comment if they found themselves in a legal crisis ?

What percentage of top level footballers do you think have agents, High 90’s ? Im
Not suggesting you couldn’t do your own contract im sure you could but when it comes to the market it tends to find its level . If agents were a gigantic waste of money , even a damage to players careers I find it hard to believe it’d have survived even flourished for decades

Here we go..

KDB has never had an agent, represents himself although I'm sure there is a legal person involved to run their eyes over things at some point

Like paul scholes they seem to be the exception.
A legal person isnt chasing and pitching deals for their client. They're just checking the legality. Its not my world but im also guessing its only a percentage of players who have sponsors bombarding them to endorse their name. Most other players have agents doing the chasing.

Waiting and waiting...whilst he makes a decision other targets are at risk of going to other clubs. Very risky strategy by the club...with the rs and united now after him, perhaps it's time to move on

Depends what you're doing as a player though, doesn't it? Would Mo Salah really have needed an agent to negotiate a contract extension for example?

Could you not appoint an agent to find sponsorship deals and endorsements but tell them to jog on when you're negotaiting a new contract? I'm not even sure they're needed to engineer transfer moves tbh. I'd seriously just consider having a few Journalist's in my pocket if I was a premier league player, it'd be a lot cheaper than giving some of these leeches the massive percentages they get.

Both Steve McManaman and Michael Owen never used agents, using contractual experts, never did either of them any harm.

The problem with football isn’t the agents it’s the obscene wages that footballers earn .
For kicking a bag of air around a park ?
Its ridiculously distasteful.
But it is what it is .
The world is insane .
