Night out

Never did I think to see that day where hairy ersed drinkers up the top end would be the kind of place that served Halloumi chips and Otter's Armpit beer and then charge you 50 nicker for a plate of something that you could chase off on to the floor if you sprinkler too much vinegar and salt on it and 2 pints of sludge.
Ahh gentrification. On day 1 it’s: “Oh wow this place looks really nice, they do good food here now” and a year on its: “why the hell have they just charged me £36 for a burger with no chips?!”

Mind, I shouldn't be surprised.
I've insulated myself from cost of living rises and the 'cultural creep' by simply not going out or engaging with other human beings socially
I remember going out on some bints leaving do in about 2009 to the Olive Press on (I think) Victoria Street.
Even then the social experience was akin to staff that had done their customer training under the Gestapo and we asked for "one of your cardboard cut out 10" pizza's please with the pretence of Olives on it and 4 pints"..
The answer was "that'll be 8 grand" with a look that said "If we could've got away with charging 10 grand we would and smiles are extra".

Aye.
Gentrification.
All that means is raised prices, same old slop on your plate, one dolly bird and 3 ex-strippers serving and if you don't leave a 50 quid tip you get shot by someone called Vyacheslav 20 minutes later.

Odd target to pick, bars and stereotypes and all, but speedy recovery mate x
Thanks brother.
To be fair, I was trying to add a flavour of what passes for daylight robbery in the service/drinking/eating culture in a 'Night out in Liverpool' thread.
Also trying to draw a comparison between what it was like then and how I'm totally out of touch.

Peak stuff this.
A fella who wants to rekindle days gone bye starts a thread asking for advice and within 20 odd posts it's ascended to Trump/Brexit/Nonce/No you are/No you are/Homophobe/No you are/define 'normal'/I'm normal/so are other normals.

Mate, stick to the top end of town, Hope Street and all the drinkers around there.

The further you go into town it's full of eejits being pushed round in shopping trolleys with 25 no marks thinking it's hilarious or snarly, shaven headed Gangster types called J Macca who are either looking to be charged with attempted murder, or under investigation for the same thing.
Mostly surrounded by daft bints in what look like lime coloured pyjamas with what also looks like a bottle full of Banana coloured liquid with curlers included nailed to their heads.
None of them will be friendly or accommodating.
I know to be honest all this bollocks is putting me of the forum. I have no time for pub bores left or right giving their stupid political opinions in pubs, and this place is becoming the same. It's like some bellend turned Diogo Jota thread into a diatribe about Palestine, that had nothing to do with thread. Vast majority of people in UK are not members of a political party and neither party stands for alleged principles they were founded on, Labour don't care about poor, Tories aren't socially conservative. Most American voters, vote based on negative partizanship, not endorsement of actual policies. So somehow a light hearted thread about pubs in town, has something to do with Trump and Brexit, Jesus, Mary, Joseph and his effin Donkey. My advice to OP, would avoid City Centre and go to Lark Lane, Penny Lane, West Derby Village or Woolton Village. Better pints, and less coked up idiots. Honestly I'm waiting for someone to bring up Slavery or Holocaust in Nathan Patterson thread to add icing on cake, of recent bellendery on here.
