You could almost think this might give us a bit of urgency to get a decent RB in so Jake can play CB.

But you know, Everton don’t do right backs.

We had at times 3 RBs on the bench last season, Patterson, Coleman, and Young, with O`Brien starting. We do RB`s, its just that they tend to be crap, injury prone or pension aged.

Is it not completely lost on you mate that had Michael Keane left the club we'd currently be down to just one fit senior CB? That was the WHOLE point of retaining the fella in the first place you'd seriously rather just have a gaping hole there instead??

We had a replacement lined up who would have come in if he had not signed the extension.

We should have never offered it to him, but it is what it is.

A replacement of another garbage CB that is happy to be 4th choice because they know it’s likely they won’t get much game time.

This is the problem with resigning Keane he will end up playing especially when O'brien is pretty much first choice at right back too...

Hopefully this is just a minor injury though.

What about signing a younger CB? They may make a few mistakes as they learn but I would take that over a known quantity who has often failed with us... especially if it could have been a CB who can also play full back.

Honestly can't remember his name, but he was a young, quick CB with plenty of upside potential.

He`s alive, but alive with a minor niggle, and as we`ve seen in the past, a minor niggle picked up in pre-season can see miss up until March (followed by an injury setback).

….i’d imagine this is exactly why they offered Keane a new deal, to provide cover when required.
