New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

The club have invested almost £800M into the north end of the city and taken care of the anchor role needed to regenerate that end of the city for the council.

The council should be making sure that in the stadium's outer environs no Tom, D1ck or Adolf can come along and lay claim to the cash they can make at that stadium.

If the council dont knock back that monstrosity across the road and anything else around there that threatens income then they're stabbing Everton and its fans in the back.

On top of the transport scandal it'll create a lot of bad blood.
Agreed...They should be doing their up most to protect the area otherwise it'll will go to dogs quick.

Its once in a life time opportunity for everyone and to allow someone to just lash a ten up outside the ground would be nothing short of scandalous.

I actually fully expect Spinks to get go ahead on this by way,I also fully expect the whole area to knee deep in projects funded by the proceeds of Scouse crime.

Moshiri opening an outlet, is he?

The club have deliberately chosen the open industrial look. That is both a cost and an aesthetic decision. Paint and other decorative elements will be used as ‘accents’ with the baseline look being concrete, metal and glass. Personally I prefer that to trying to dress up a concrete and steel shell to resemble something more homely or old. I get that this approach isn’t for everyone but it isn’t going to substantially change. More ‘accents’ will no doubt be added over time but the bones of the building will always remain on display.

That's fair enough. But not everyone is going to be wowed by that approach, and people who rightfully take great pride in the stadium will have to accept that underwhelment from others is the downside of the choices made.

It's a tremendous structure. But I can't help feeling, so far, that the financial stress of the club during the years of its construction has permeated the walls of the new stadium.

That will surely change in the future as it will provide many opportunities for creative designers to decorate effectively in better financial times. But right now, it's looking a little bare-bones.

I don’t disagree Drico but we were never going to replicate day one the feel of a place we occupied for 133 years. The new home will evolve organically, inside and out, over time as it should. I do think they could have done a little more day one in the seating bowl to advertise Everton for the cameras but time brings change so for me it is not worth getting upset about.

I don't want them to replicate Goodison, though. I just want a modern stadium that looks like no expense was spared on it. I understand we did amazingly to build any stadium, given our finances, but the new guys have no excuse. Paint the grey concrete walls inside the arena. Screed the roofs. Where is our "Blue Wall"? Right now it's a few sections of stand, a grey concrete divider, two disability bays, and then more sections. It is not contiguous. Simply paint the grey concrete divider and the disability bay walls. Presto: Blue Wall.

And all of these exposed walls just look cheapo. The retractable tunnel - a trivial, silly thing to get one's back up over - is actually a symptom of all of this. It's just another small example of one more thing that seems to scream "this will do - and we have a good rationale for it." But whatever that rationale is, it hasn't been explained to fans. Heck, our new owners don't seem to have even set foot in the place, yet. Now, one would say so what? But we seem to have to make a lot of excuses for each and every one of these "issues" - some trivial, some less so.

Basically, we need to see some action from the Friedkins pretty soon. When we do, people will start to cut them some slack.

By the time matchgoers have had a pint in each of the watering holes leading up the The Dick they're going to be absolutely leathered, which at least ought to make watching 100 minutes of awful football more tolerable.
Everton need to get their pricing structure right, £7 a pint has been mooted. Otherwise their plans of getting fans in early and staying late will fall flat.
Plenty of bars outside and 25 minute walk from town

Personally don't see the point in drinking at the game unless it's purely for convenience. Everybody is walking past these bars on the way to the match anyway, the pints will be much more reasonably priced and the atmosphere will be great. And yes agree, Everton definitely need to price competitively if they want to keep fans in longer.

They've got one chance to get it right;

They'd do well to keep prices competitive.

People will get to the stadium early out of excitement, and begin to mould their match day routine. What's it's set, it's very difficult to change.

If prices, quality and comfort are there - people will get to the ground and spend. There's currently very little alternatives nearby so give the pull, rather than having everyone in town.

First impressions and all that.

Not sure who posted this on here -you may have already seen- but this seemingly was a concept plan. Looks a tad better then the tent

Few other images- swipe right at the top of the page

I know it's just a concept but I'm a big fan of that building floating on Nelson dock.
